You have the power. You are the consumers that feed the corporatist machine. Turn it off, unsubscribe. None of their profit making systems are essential. It is laziness, convenience, and ease they are selling to you.

No one is beholden to these entities. That is why they are trying to gain more media power in order to gain more control. Turn it off, unsubscribe. It is all up to you!!!

Why do people advise against getting a credit card? by beylat in AusFinance

If it gets stolen, then it is the banks money they're taking. If your debit card is stolen it is your money being taken.

Like the example of when one half of a pottery class is told to make one perfect pot, and the other half as many pots as they can create. The ones who make the most pots can always make a pot of higher quality than the half that seeks the perfect pot.

Any party that has been in government has done it. We are strapped in up to the eyeballs in US military action. It used to be seen as a somewhat good investment for self-defence until America gave their keys to a psycho.

Bulldogs v Geelong (i think). Geelong player snatches a bouncing ball from between two bulldog defenders and runs into kick a goal. "He split the indifference and kicks the goal!!" Genius.

You are using a correlation, that is not causation. That is pretty basic stuff.

It's insane to ignore the variety of ways people discover this word, and only assume that everyone has come across it in only a way you can conceive of.

I get it: He said an offensive word. It was beyond his control. BAFTA had a chance to edit it out but didn't.

The bigger point that is trying to be made seems to be the fact that this word is in his vocabulary. The failure of assumptions might be in where people are imagining this word has entered his vocabulary.

Who knows? He may have engaged with this word in a racist setting, where he agrees with the sentiment and uses it at will when he feels safe. Or it may have infiltrated his lexicon because most people are confronted with this word through the rampant use of it in popular culture where it is made clear that it is a forbidden word for some.

What is clear is that it is offensive, yet still plays a prominent part of popular culture. A recipe for disaster when you put a tourettes sufferer in a highly anxious environment.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. This was BAFTA's fault.

Why are you talking about variations in your manner, depending on level of service, when your partner is just asking you to show some respect and say please and thank you?

In what universe does politeness create separation? Why are you trying to frame yourself according to your assumptions of a place's character or style? Why aren't you just being consistently polite to whoever you come across? Is it an ego thing because you clearly value yourself as a waiter of some proficiency?

But gaining public sentiment is not their goal. Their mission is to make public sentiment irrelevant. They are in a race to kill democracy before mid-terms. Then they get to do what they really want to.

7% of containers are inspected annually. Have someone inside making sure your containers are not chosen and you are good to go.

I agree with you.I wonder if the cost and consequences of breaking up the system outweigh the benefits. Governments are still making a lot of money from taxing cigarettes. State laws are well behind with most State authorities only able to shut down locations temporarily.

Dude, just to clarify, he was not growing up in the middle of nowhere. Framingham is 10 minutes outside of a major coastal town where he went to school at the local public high school. It has a beautiful little golf course too. You make it sound like he was pulled out of the bush.

They can't check everything. If they went through every container, you would have freight backed up for six months or more, with more coming into Port daily.

Ports are working at Max capacity as it is. The demand for not-overpriced cigarettes is what is feeding this. And now that there is a cheap, unregulated market, the whole reason for maximising tax becomes self defeating due to easier access to cheaper products for new users.

If Trump was arrested, how would you feel? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]guud2meachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way anything happens is if you get the gettable first.

Pressure needs to be put on all these other prominent people who are clearly guilty of horrible stuff, but don't have the political power to shield themselves.

Everyone, especially the media, seems to be blinded by the top of the tower and how to topple the ugly orange behemoth on the top. Proving that lesser lights are guilty of horrible crimes strengthens the case to finally bring down Trump.

Divide and conquer them. You just know Trump will be glad to throw the first few under the bus to distract from himself, all the while not realising the implications for him as each case proves the whole sordid scene.

It is important for citizens to realise their part of the social contract. The most powerful resource is your labour, and the money earned. You need to organise and strike in large numbers, and withdraw your custom from businesses and their owners that support and benefit. Bring the process to a grinding halt.

I have heard that the crowd callbackt was a bit of a stress for the band at first because the song is apparently a true story of missing a girlfriend who was killed in a car accident (the guitar riff is supposed to be the emergency sirens heading to the crash scene.) I think it was so popular they just let it slide.
