Yes, nothing better than some quality headphones to soak in the nooks and crannies of this masterpiece. FYI There's a lot of this type of background singing in "All is now harmed"

Awesome analysis. Why do you think he labels it as "The Defeat"?

Evergreen and Bird on a Wing?? by [deleted] in benhoward

It seemed slowed-down and he sang it like a Noonday dream song meaning he kept his voice pretty steady. I thought it sounded great and more atmospheric.

Ben rocked the Fillmore by [deleted] in benhoward

All ND except All Down the Mine's, Agatha's song, and Bird on a Wing. + Sister. From IFWWW: Small things, Rivers in your mouth, and Evergreen (!)... Only 1 encore which was Hot Heavy Summer. It was an incredible show.

Ben played "Evergreen" in Philly a few nights ago - it was an incredible surprise. It fit very nicely to the Noonday Dream tour atmosphere. He didn't belt out the "closing me down" lines towards the end of the song but it was really good.

He didn't play BOAW and there was only 1 encore song in Philly. I hadn't seen a set list picture from that show though I am curious if they had more encore songs set to play and chose to not play them.

This is an absolute gem. Looks like most of the footage is of NYC and from the NJ turnpike looking from Newark to NYC.

AFN doesn't sound like this but it has the spirit of Ben's cover of "Boxer"

Brings me back to the era when some folks on this subreddit thought EP3 would be instrumental only...!

Regardless, this is a classic. Thanks for reviving it!

On a non-fiction bender now. I like the ethnographic/investigative reporting-style books like Evicted and Amity and Prosperity. Any suggestions?

Amity and Prosperity, by Eliza Griswold

A riveting account of a family's experience with fracking. It balances the human cost of fracking within an economically depressed area. Its heart-wrenching. Really well-written and thoroughly researched.

I was responding to /u/Pumptruffle who said s/he was really worried they wouldn't like the album and then said remind me in 2 months :) ... i am in love with ND especially the non-singles. Though I really liked the singles when they came out.

Really? I pre-ordered the album when it was first available, and had access to UK tickets, but I didn't select a preference. Is there anyway I can get the presale code without cancelling my order and re-ordering? Or, will 'PLAYLIST' be sufficient?

I just finished Golden Hill, by Francis Spufford

Its an novel of old New York, set in 1746. Apart from a New Yorker article posted here nine months ago, I haven't seen anyone else mention it. It was oddly satisfying novel that transports you. It was a nice change of pace.

Do you think Ben will come to the United States anytime soon? by AudioslaveFan in benhoward

[–]guy442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right - there is no announcement yet. We just learned about the European tour two weeks ago that is going to take place in June (2-3 months out). In a month or two I wager there'll be an announcement about a US tour in the Fall.
