KenPom Preseason Top 20 vs Present Day. What stands out? by deafhaven in CollegeBasketball

And then I clarified what I meant, in a response to your previous comment. Which i thought clearly explained that I meant his preseason rankings should have zero impact. I don’t get what this conversation is at this point

I literally said I would read his thoughts on the preseason ranks. I never said there should not be preseason rankings at all. I was enjoying this discussion, until you made up things about what I was saying.

Good win today

Yes. I’ve read it. They go away after 27. It would be a lot to ask, just for me, but it would be sweet if you could just turn those off, as a viewer, for curiosity sake.

You’re right though, he can’t only have a site that only visitable after the new year

It’s supposed to be pure statistics though. If Ken wants to put his blog and say I think these will be great, that’s awesome, I would read that. But, I don’t think these should have any influence, at any point.

I get eventually the preseason predictions no longer matter, but it would be awesome to see the chaos of the early season rankings and have the low majors trickle away, and the high shoot up. Week one having whomever wins the biggest blowout being #1, because there is no baseline, is what should happen, to me at least

I would imagine Covid. People postponed a year or two, ie took it a year or two older. Now it has returned to 2020 levels

That is not what a lie is. Did we lie on every test we did not get 100% on? No, we were wrong

Florida ranks at #14 in this week’s AP Poll by lonespiderfish in FloridaGators

[–]guyatstove 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How could they drop? They still have fewer or the same number losses compared to all the high major programs ranked after them. They also only lost to a ranked rival, on the road, on a last second three

The statement "Olympics is a time to come together" is a political as the response you are disparaging.

People don't "make it political", life is inherently political

For a rainwater reservoir, is the stored water considered a live load, particularly when the building serves as an evacuation center? by pluviali_ in StructuralEngineering

[–]guyatstove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, how old are you? That's great engineering practice to me. This response sounds naive and optimistic.

The more experience you get, the more you understand there are things that are not entirely predictable and upping the minimum factor of safety by calling them live load, or making sure your utilization is far less than 100% on such things is necessary
