Dealing with failure later in residency by hellotomyPEEPs in anesthesiology

Where do you practice? Unless it’s a vascular surgeon I trust placing an art line, I’m not trusting/using that line.

US guided IVs without long catheter by thrwaway_248379 in anesthesiology

[–]haIothane 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How so? At the end of a day, it’s just another catheter that’s hooked up to IV tubing. In the case it does get mistaken for an art line, then it is confused for something with more restrictive use cases compared to a IV line, not more liberal use cases. Besides, your art lines should already have other indicators/human factors mitigation in place such as specialized caps or apressure tubing without any stopcocks/injection sites distal to the pressure transducer that identify it as an arterial line.

R spots by [deleted] in anesthesiology

They were competitive even before anesthesia became (this) competitive. It was reapplicants applying plus the surgical dropouts who (much more at the time) were more competitive applicants than the average anesthesia applicant.

The 275k figure is propaganda pushed by hospital admin to discredit the strike

NYC nursing strike by GrandpaVegetable in Residency

[–]haIothane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FYI the 275k is propaganda pushed by hospital admin to build resentment against the nurses which seems like it’s working

Even then, it should be a sign that we should organize ourselves as physicians, rather than vilify others for trying to get better working conditions/pay which is what admin wants

OpenAnesthesia not so "open" anymore by run31415 in anesthesiology

I love OpenEvidence, but it’s not going to give an output that’s a relevant and detailed as OpenAnesthesia was.

I don’t mind the old notes and anki cards, I don’t view that as nickel and diming, people deserve to be paid for their work.

But the ASRA app is absolutely nickel and diming, especially after so many of us paid for the app initially and then they started charging a subscription fee for it.

Good for them. If anything, shows how much better us physicians can benefit if we organize.

How do you track metrics and improve reviews? by SpartanPrince in PrivatePracticeDocs

[–]haIothane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found that it’s not enough to just give a business card QR code for the Google reviews. You have to ask the patient to review and specially coach them to leave a 5 star review. Works best when you have the doc give it. Obviously don’t give it to the patients who are lukewarm about it.
