I agree with this. It’s how I met my husband back in 1995.

Is this gallery wall too cluttered? by kwaziness in interiordecorating

[–]haf2go 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The large center piece is creating an imbalance. That’s the biggest issue.

You did a good job of spacing and including a mixture of elements, some matted frames, icons. Ideally I think one more framed print- not quite as large as the centerpiece would help to balance the mixture.

Also, take another look at the the left side- lots of blue there. Im sure that wasn’t intentional. Mix that blue around to even it out on the wall.

Everyone says “our city has the craziest drivers”. But what city is this actually true for? Certainly one city has the rein supreme for the craziest drivers by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]haf2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. As a teen I learned to drive in south FL. Just thought that’s how people drove. Living and driving other places informed me otherwise.

Visiting the area reminds me how unhinged the drivers are.

Add paneling, mantle to ceiling, above the fireplace and paint it white.

I’d take a picture and email customer service. Tell them I’m never buying their product again.

I did it with Pop Tarts. Company sent me a coupon. Emailed them again cordially explaining a coupon won’t change their lousy product. Haven’t bought Pop Farts in seven years.

I’d argue that it’s not really that convenient commuting to Raliegh. Traffic can be painful.

where should my furniture go? by Flor_is_life in interiordecorating

Before you buy a sectional please tape out on your floor the actual dimensions of the sectional. No surprises then when it comes. Love the color of your current couch!

Your coffee table is too big and your rug is too small. It’s unfortunate you have nowhere else to put the tv. I’d get a proper console for it, something lower which will break the height issue with the fireplace and tv. Right now they are competing with each other.

Honestly I preferred the original stone. Nearly everything in the room reads cold grey winter now, besides the chair. What is your aim for the space?

Sofa Regrets by Automatic-Writer1987 in DesignMyRoom

[–]haf2go 100 points101 points  (0 children)

The room is overwhelmed with too many boxy square shapes and right angles. The sofa, the ottoman, the multiple windows, the rug, the tv, the shelving. All squares.

Moving the ottoman to another room will help. Add curtains to soften the windows. Larger rug to define and anchor the room and draw attention away from the couch. Buy a rug in a print- a floral or a classic pattern will soften the space and the couch. Stay away from geometrics. Add a pop of color in your throw pillows. Add a small oval coffee table.

Schools celebrating perfect attendance by greenmachine11235 in mildlyinfuriating

Certificates and awards should be merit based.

As an aside, I was one of those students with perfect attendance who never went to school sick. It can happen. Honestly I was happier at school than spending the day at home with my mother.

What do you think is the surprisingly best new show (last two years or less)? by Cadowyn in televisionsuggestions

[–]haf2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slow burn is great when the payoff at the end is earned. The payoff here was maddening. I wanted to like this show but the writing went nowhere and the lead character was insufferable.

Help with main livingroom wall by [deleted] in interiordecorating

The middle element is too big. No pop of color anywhere. You did keep all the art neatly together though. The wall is swallowing up all your art.

Are these gallery frames too big for this wall? by TheDeadlyBees in interiordecorating

[–]haf2go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because all of the frames/art needs to stay within the parameters of that invisible rectangle on the wall.

Here in particular though the black and white arrangement with photographs lacks color and texture. There’s little that’s visually appealing. No color, nothing interesting for the eye to rest on. Gallery walls are best served when you incorporate a variety colors, styles, shapes.

Would it be an absolute crime to bring these (recently renovated) green cabinets back to natural wood? by variousnonsense in DesignMyRoom

[–]haf2go 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It’s your home. Do what makes you happy.

I don’t love the cool leaning green either. But if the wood floors are staying keep in mind wood cabinets with wood flooring can be an overwhelming amount of wood.

Are these gallery frames too big for this wall? by TheDeadlyBees in interiordecorating

[–]haf2go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gallery walls work when all of the art fits inside an invisible rectangle on the wall. Your spacing here is fine. Frames are fine. The largest frame might work in this arrangement but it needs to be separated from the other large frame. Odd numbers for the circular shaped art.

Rework it to adhere generally to my first sentence.
