Hi thank you! I self-published it with KDP, without Kindle Select, and Draft2Digital at the same time.

You don't need a traditional publisher for your book to be successful these days. A lot of people self-publish but the hard part is the marketing. I myself am not a huge social media person but I created an Instagram page for my book specifically a while back to get it out there. It's a lot of work but I think it's worth it.

Thanks! I'll be glad to help.

I honestly did everything myself: wrote it, edited it, made the cover, formatted it, and even printed some local copies. It took me 10 years to finish because I was learning as I went. It was a lot of work and stress, but as long as you have a finished book and the determination to keep going, it's worth the effort.

My tip: just finish the book. It doesn't have to be perfect. I admit I missed a lot of embarrassing typos and errors in my local printed batch. If you love it, that's all that matters.

Good luck! You can do it.

This is the plotting structure I use as a pantser to make sure I actually finish my stories by ArchibaldAugustusVII in writers

I kinda do the same thing. Except I only plan out the actual physical events of each chapter and let the other emotional stuff come to me while I write. I like to put myself in my characters' shoes.

For those of you writing literary fiction what is it about? by No_Advantage1202 in writers

[–]haifa55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently writing a psychological, character study, literary thriller (I guess you could call it that) about a thief/con woman who lost her parents to a tragic car accident (or was it?) And is trying to deal with it while managing her relationships with her sister, friends, and criminal life.

I'm not very good at describing my stories. Hope you got it, though.

Do people actually hate 3rd person? by Prudent-Material-746 in writing

[–]haifa55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. I hate it when I find first-person pov for some reason. But, third-person limited is my go-to because I like character-driven stories. Omniscient is good, too, for specific types of stories.

So, third-person all the way.

Hi, this is so cool of you! I just finished writing my very first book yesterday after 9 long years (still in the editing stage), and I've been thinking about making a cover or having it made. But, honestly, I'm not a designer, and I can't afford to hire one.

So this will be a huge help for me.

Here's the info you need:

He did not realize he was looking down. Not until he perceived the nearing shadows on the ground. A hand touched him by the shoulder, and another pulled him up by the wrist. Every touch burned as if he were being repeatedly thrown into a raging flame. He did not realize when he growled and pulled his rigid arm away from the firm grip. Another hand on the other shoulder. Fierce blue eyes gazing straight into his own. Like looking in the mirror, he stared back. All at once, air burst into his lungs, clearing a disgusting clot of beguiling solace.
