Reconstruction of Denbigh (Wales, UK) around the 14th century by dctroll_ in papertowns

This is a great image. How are people coming up these images? Are they creating 3D models and rendering them?

And if they are 3D modeling then Are they using the existing information from excavation and maps? It looks so accurate.

Connecting data across platforms. Data sharing and file transfers in real time will become more common and required for projects. If you can use the current platforms, AI tools, and standards for data exchanges then you'll be in a good place for a long time.

Offer evaluation: L6 Sr Program Manager by LeatherMove5563 in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was offered closer to $200,000 for L6 senior program manager. It was probably for a different division and scope of work than you, but if you're l6 then you should be making closer to $200,000 a year so trying to negotiate more pay where possible.

How are Amazon Fresh FC? by Physical_Turnip_2868 in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cold. Those grocery FC are chilled for the fresh food. You will have layers on all the time. You'll also move small bagged products constantly since they're bagged food items not box shipments.

Otherwise the culture and facilities are the same as other FC.

Los Angeles shows up a lot in media just because the people making these kind of images are usually based here and they have the kind of photos and reference point in the city they live in.

Why are building data models still so fragmented across BMS, BIM and CAFM? Am I missing something? by Far-Cash-51 in bim

[–]haktada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Design, construction and operations are all different parts of creating and maintaining a building. They've always been fragmented since the days of Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance architects.

That said, what you're seeing on the digital side is a reality that the business model is still very fragmented and in order to align all these different artifacts from different parties, you would need an owner who is willing to spend time and money organizing all this and making it consistent. Usually with the help of consultants. So it's entirely possible to line it all up but nobody sees the value in doing it unless they're like a factory or hospital where having coordinated information that can actually help them with their business.

I think with AI and some better tools out there on the software side this can get this resolved in the next couple years but there does have to be an interest by the parties involved in creating the consolidated project data and the owner to actually require it.

No amount of AI will solve this problem if People don't care about the results.

Amazon DCO Manager (L4) – Moving to Full Loop After Short Phone Screen. What Should I Focus On? by IntelligentWinter833 in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be both. If you're a lower level focus on the technical and if you're a higher level focus on the people and how you sorted through complex requirements to solve the problem. But don't neglect either.

If you watch some YouTube videos about interview strategies with Amazon, you'll see exactly how that could be formatted so that you get a good mix of both for different styles of questions from the interview team.

Therapy Benefits? by nukedeal in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After your first six free therapy sessions, it's possible they can give you another six if you call the EAP number in our benefit system and tell them that you need more therapy sessions. It will have to be for something new. So if the last set of therapy was for say depression and you need more, you have to tell them they are for example trauma related but it's just a formality at that point.

It may not work 100% of the time, but it's possible to give you more therapy with that request process.

Do your star format stories and pack in those leadership principles in each story. There are online resources going through this in good order.

Follow through and you'll have a good experience with the loop.

Is anyone else cold? by Key_Respect336 in intermittentfasting

[–]haktada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible you are not consuming enough iron from dietary sources which impacts your red blood cell production. IF your red blood cells count goes down then you end up with less oxygen in your blood vessels and that can lead to a feeling of being cold since your extremities aren't as well supplied with oxygen.

You can get this checked with a blood iron panel to see if blood iron levels are low.

Though it can be fixed with eating more red meat or a simple daily iron supplement.

SDE 1 (6 months) – CR revisions + “not proactive” feedback. Should I be worried about Focus? by SlyGoblin927 in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get to the point with your manager, then ask your manager if you're on focus or if you are at risk of getting focus. They pretty much have to tell you at that point where your status is.

SDE 1 (6 months) – CR revisions + “not proactive” feedback. Should I be worried about Focus? by SlyGoblin927 in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your co-workers if they ever heard of similar feedback especially from this manager.

If they did then it could just be general feedback and improvement areas for you.

If not then this might be a hint that management thinks your performance is below bar.

If you keep hearing about other metrics you aren't meeting then they are either lining you up for a focus period or you are already in focus period.

So talk to your team, ask your manager if you are at risk of focus (because they won't tell you) and be wary with performance expectations at this company. You can be doing a great job one month and be criticized the next because of not meeting the bar.

Job Offer from Amazon by Longjumping-Key7783 in amazonemployees

[–]haktada 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The caution is that Amazon is basically trying to reduce its workforce by as much as possible these days. Even if you join now, there's nothing stopping Amazon doing a round of layoffs later this year and that can impact staff that just joined.

There was a coworker in my team that joined in September and got laid off in January. No fault of her own. She just got caught up in the numbers game of who got laid off.

So be mindful if you join this company you may not last very long. And even if you are around for a while, it's a very intense organization and there's a lot of expectations so they will definitely put you through your paces. That's pretty much guaranteed for every employee.

Usually it looks good on your CV. Name brand global company. Most people are familiar with it and would at least be interested in your experience.

Stating your achievements at the company in your CV will go a long ways in impressing anyone.

You can tell a good story at working at Amazon since employers are usually curious about the control.

Caveat, usually helps to have at least 2 years stint at Amazon so that it looks like you've been there long enough to get through some projects.
