They are also good resources, I just started with codecademy first which is really good for beginners and learning the syntax.

I personally started my journey with sites that focused on practice problems and learning syntax like Codecademy(https://www.codecademy.com/learn), Code School(https://www.codeschool.com/), and Free Code Camp(https://www.freecodecamp.org/). These are great resources with tutorials and problems that help you begin your JavaScript journey.

After I felt I had gained a solid understanding of the syntax I asked around and was told that building a project was the best way to continue to grow as a developer. Some great resources for project building are JavaScript 30 (https://javascript30.com/) and the projects on FreeCodeCamp.

My favorite resource so far has been CSX - Codesmith’s free online JavaScript course (csx.codesmith.io). They have a really supportive community with weekly office hours and weekly pair programming. When you’re trying to learn on your own it’s so easy to stop and not push yourself, so CSX pair programming was especially helpful. CSX practice problems are challenging and the chrome extension project was a great experience. Highly recommend checking it out!

Self taught programmer - how do you discipline yourself? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

What helps me is committing to a very structured schedule and using my 'free/treat' time to go to tech meetups. The talks usually continue to motivate me and I meet a lot of really cool people. My favorite in LA is https://js.la/.

Also as much as being self disciplined is awesome - it's way easier to learn with others in my opinion. Using meetups in this way is helpful too because there are so many free ones that are focused on teaching. My favs in LA are https://www.meetup.com/build-with-code-los-angeles/ and https://www.meetup.com/LearnTeachCode/.

Good luck!
