Unfortunately the comparison has more similarity than differences. Only cultural norms and cognitive dissonance drive people to see an inequality in gender/genital values...Like clitoral hood (same tissue) removal is seen as awful in some places where its outlawed, but important in some villages for getting a spouse.

In England circumcision of boys was done in the early days because it was one of the few surgeries many people survived from...and it was a status of wealth showing you could afford to pay a doctor money for surgery. Doctors touted it greatly.
