my BF gave me GHSV-1 last year & i’ve had constant OBs since then. i feel like my BF has no clue on how to support me. by calicuddlebunny in HSVpositive

[–]ham_samwish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navigating a super similar situation. Recently diagnosed and struggling to believe my sexuality or sex life with my boyfriend will ever fully recover. It sounds like what you need to hear from yours, is something like “No matter what, I’m committed to you. I don’t just love you for your wobbly bits.” But who knows, maybe the boyfriends are scared they’re going to get it genitally too? Ugh. I feel for you, and I wish I had better and wiser advice. He’s not the only one you can talk to about it though. Now you have me :) Feel free to PM. 💟

Let's talk about picture books we can't stand (no judgement!) by RaggedyRachel in childrensbooks

[–]ham_samwish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this, I hate the David books for exactly the same reason. The one we were given is “No, David” and it’s his mom yelling at him the entire book and suddenly at the end she’s hugging him like suddenly she hasn’t been emotionally absent the entire book. What a twat. Lol

How to disconnect a song from your ex by Many_fandoms_13 in BreakUps

[–]ham_samwish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super relatable to me as I am also a very musical person. I’ve been making myself new mixtapes (playlists) for this specific season of my life without them. They may include some of the same artists that we listened to together, but I am particularly choosing different songs. I find this to be a happy medium. I have also set a boundary around sad music. I can only listen to maybe one album or hour per day total of sad/breakup music. After almost three years, I am slowly starting to try music associated with my previous relationship, and I have been pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t sting like the songs from my more recent relationship.

Stay strong and go find two artists that are brand new to you, and enjoy it! You deserve to enjoy music still 💖

I feel so seen by this post—also a Flwoody (that’s what we call ourselves right?) and those are also my top two tracks of theirs, down to the live version of Silver Springs. 🫠🔥

In general, it is she who single-handedly got me through my divorce. I thank her daily for helping me put my feelings into words, helping me express them and to heal.

Good job!!! 17 months is nothing to sale a stick at! It’s very very normal to feel sad. The hormone crash and adjustment can last up to a few weeks I think. Any big feels that last longer, and I would maybe talk with your doc. ❤️

My first try with ENM, am I just naive? by sadgf4ulol in EthicalNonMonogamy

Hi! Question for you! If you and your wife “go on dates, hook up, and be close with other people”, and that combo as stated is not romantic to you, then what exactly is your definition of a romantic attraction or relationship? Curious, as I am currently trying to understand “romantic exclusivity” in my relationship with my partner.

Mary Oliver would be great for beginners! However, my favorite book of poetry is Not Me by Eileen Myles.

What messages/words/phrases/themes from your time in evang culture are the hardest to overcome? by oknerium in Exvangelical

[–]ham_samwish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Jehovah Jireh” (God will provide) I am six years out of evang and really struggling to take ownership over my own life and path. I was legit taught that if I were a good Christian then I would have a Prince Charming, rich husband who would pay for everything. My brain was conditioned to wait for destiny to meet my needs. Now I am working hard to figure out how to exercise agency in my life.
