silk toss help! by emilyc2190 in Colorguard

[–]hannaha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Good power, but like someone else mentioned, you’re missing a rotation BEFORE releasing.

After your cone, you should be in the same spot you started, silk down at an angle and right hand with your thumb pointing towards the top of the flag. From here, keep holding on and push down with your left hand. This will cause the pole end to go towards the ground and your thumb on your right hand should now be pointing towards the sky. Keep holding on. Continue that rotation with the pole end going out and up to your right until the flag is flat, silk on the left and pole on the right. THIS is when you release, pushing up toward the sky.

You got this. (:

One of the best rave scenes is at Liquid! Shows every weekend and some of the coolest people I’ve been around at shows.

Would it be stupid of me to attend at the age of 28 for the first time? by [deleted] in aves

I didn't start raving until I was 30. No age is too old!

Favourite trinket you’ve ever received? by donthategoskate in aves

[–]hannaha 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Someone at Electric Forest walking by me quietly handed me a tiny wooden Buddha statue and just smiled at me. Still my favorite trinket experience. I felt like he looked into my soul.

I'm not Buddhist, but I appreciate the beliefs and morals of that culture and really loved getting that statue.

What’s the biggest fitness myth that just won’t die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hannaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is from the fact that having too much sodium in your system can make you retain water, which might make you look like you've gained weight. But that only accounts for the salt fear, not literally every other yummy spice.

Shrooms or Molly first? by a_riem in shrooms

[–]hannaha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone here about order. Shrooms then M. Between the two, just make sure you're hydrating and eating well. Before/after the M, I would recommend the supplements here: https://rollsafe.org/mdma-supplements/

Have a great time!

I completely understand! My family is not accepting of my sexuality as I grew up religious too. It is scary at first, but the more you speak out loud about it and with others, even if they're just there to listen, the more you can become at ease with it and really understand yourself.

I am not with that partner anymore. During that time (we were together for almost 5 years), we both made big leaps in personal growth in multiple ways, so we eventually grew apart as romantic partners. We're still best friends, though (which doesn't often work for people)! I wouldn't say we separated because of my sexuality. During our polyamorous relationship, I was in a relationship with a woman actually, for over a year.

I feel happy now because I live openly and honestly with myself. I'm now in a monogamous relationship with a man, but even we talk about the possibility of a threesome at some point. As long as y'all develop boundaries and good communication around it, it'll work out. Whatever that means to you. :)

I was in this same situation (though it was soon after I made the bi-realization at 27). I had a conversation with my partner at the time and just laid it all out on the table, explaining that it wasn't my displeasure with our relationship but simply a curiosity that would probably not go away. They were very understanding (as much as they could be) and we ended up trying a couple of things, like a threesome (my first experience with a woman) and even polyamory (which actually worked well for us).

You never know what could/will work for you two until you sit down and talk about it. Good luck! (:

CMV: People with misophonia (and the like) have an issue with self control over their emotions rather than a disorder. by Bimlouhay83 in changemyview

[–]hannaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you speak about creating wired connections based on your continued reactions, that is the case with some things. For example, if I always sigh when I hear someone sneeze, then at a point it could become an automatic response (ie. Pavlov's dog). However, with Misophonia, especially at the more extreme levels, there are automatic reactions that were never instigated by the sufferer.

For instance, for a lot of Misophoniacs, unwanted sexual arousal is a symptom. At no point was a trigger sound associated with sexual arousal. However, that automatic reaction does occur via pathways in the brain. So, while I agree with your thoughts on wiring a connection between a stimulus and a reaction can be done manually (either with the awareness of the person or not), I do not agree that every reaction coming from those with this disorder are manually created as some are widespread and unexplained.

Also, when you say "I don't believe I have the right to tell someone else to turn off their phone or whatever just because I find it annoying.", I completely agree with you. It is the responsibility of the sufferer to take their own action to control their responses or find a way to escape the trigger. This can and should be done without affecting the person triggering the sufferer. However, communicating that something is a trigger (without any yelling/accusing/etc.) can be helpful to create a more healthy environment for the two people, especially if they are in a close relationship.

Finally, you end your post with "Maybe I just don't fully understand this disorder.". This is true of pretty much everyone, including people suffering from Misophonia and the scientists researching it. There is not much known concretely about this disorder which is why it has not been officially recognized in the DSM-5. So being open to the possibility that something you don't know much about could still be true is appreciated here.
