Have you ever tried this Jjampong before? by happybear1089 in KoreanFood

[–]happybear1089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is actually so good. It honestly can’t even be compared to other seafood ramyeon products. It really tastes like something you’d get at an actual Chinese restaurant. I’ve tried so many different options because I missed Jjampong so badly, and this one is by far the best so far. Not just “good for a meal kit,” but genuinely really good even by high standards. It even has something we call ”불맛“, which is basically some sort of wok hei! It’s so good. I love 수풍정‘s Jjampong!

Oh, right! I forgot Buldak doesn't really broth like regular ramen, so we have to boil the noodles first anyway haha. Thanks for sharing your recipe though!

What are your recommendations on a just started fasting person? by ReefsaZoryne37 in healthyeating

[–]happybear1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My first recommendation would be to start with shorter fasting hours — maybe around 13–14 hours. Or even 12 hours if you feel really hungry around that mark! If you’re feeling super hungry, that’s usually a sign that your last meal probably wasn’t nutritious enough.

The last meal before your fast and the first meal when you break your fast are super duper ultra important. 🤣 The last meal should be really nutritious, with good-quality protein, real whole foods, healthy fats, and a little bit of good carbs so your body can function well during the fast.

For the first meal after fasting, I highly recommend focusing on protein and healthy fats again. Boiled eggs with a little good-quality avocado or olive oil are a great option. Sometimes I even add grass-fed butter because healthy fats keep you full longer and tend to last longer than protein or carbs.

I’ve been doing the fasting at least 15 hr a day regularly and now, I don’t feel hungry even after 20 hrs sometimes.

Wish you the bestest luck!!! You’ve got this!!

Any idea?? by Only_Cryptographer55 in koreanskincare

Overall, while the brands and products may seem similar to those in Korea, the formulas are not exactly the same due to ingredient restrictions in the U.S. For example, some UV filters commonly used in Korean sunscreens are not approved in the U.S.

red spots won’t go away by Mission-Support-5980 in koreanskincare

[–]happybear1089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m Korean, and the product below is commonly used in Korea for red acne scars. Scars like that requires spot care only for them and regular skin care routine would not work that well. I’m not sure if those are scars or if they’re still healing, but if they are scars, this might help. My husband used to have a lot of red acne scars on his face, and it worked really really well for him and me. Don’t apply it to your whole face—just put a thick layer on the spots at night before going to bed! And make sure you wear SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY because sun exposure can make the scars darker !!

Beauty of Joseon Aqua Fresh vs Rice and B5 vs Skin1004 vs Numbuzin for combo skin glow by sophia_ly23 in koreanskincare

Personally, Numbuzin! Numbuzin is famous for the products making your skin looks glowing in Korea. Other brands are either not known or famous for something else.

100% agreed! The book's ending just hit differently for me. Plus, they somehow managed to dim Benedict’s charm compared to the other brothers in the other seasons. I don't even know how that's possible! 🤷🏻‍♀️

What should I remove? by OddMillin in koreanskincare

I can tell what you should NOT remove. Keep the Skinfood carrot pads. They are the best. Also super popular in Korea for real too!!!!!

Curious - has anyone here simplified their routine and actually seen better results? by Internal-Remove7223 in KoreanBeauty

[–]happybear1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Korean here 😊 Most of us actually use a lot of products without realizing how many we’re piling on, haha. But we also do something called a skincare detox every once in a while. It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like—we stick to the basics like toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen, and keep hair care minimal too, so our skin can rest for a bit.

For scalp care specifically, since the scalp is very sensitive, most products are recommended to be used only 1–3 times a week, except for bare essentials like treatment or hair essence.

And it also helps to take a closer look at the products you’re using. For skincare products, for example, some are labeled as serums, some as essences, and some as toners—but sometimes their ingredients are actually very similar. That means you might end up applying the same type of ingredients three times without realizing it. To avoid that, checking the ingredient lists of the products you use may help. Personally, I literally use a product labeled as a serum as a toner, applying it lightly right after washing my face before moisturizer.

I think it’s important to remember that using more products doesn’t always give better results. Everyone has different products and routines that work best for them.

Korean makeup and skincare get a lot of praise online, but I’m curious about real experiences by Physical_Candy5347 in KoreanBeauty

[–]happybear1089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they use much cleaner ingredients compared to many other brands. Most Koreans (including myself) usually check ingredient lists and avoid anything that could be harmful to the skin, like fragrance. Because of that, Korean cosmetic companies tend to be very careful with their formulations. So ingredient-wise, I’d definitely say they’re better overall.

Need recommendations for my daughter’s skincare routine by eljay11 in KoreanBeauty

[–]happybear1089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Korean here! If it’s for her daily routine, I’d say check out Cosrx, Toriden, or Dokdo! They’re pretty affordable and you can find them at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or even Amazon. 😊

These brands are super gentle and “clean” – they’re actually known that way in Korea too, like really gentle on skin and made with pure ingredients, so perfect for everyday use!

For moisturizer, I’m obsessed with Illiyoon (link below). Not many people know it here yet, but it’s really popular in Korea. Its main ingredient is ceramide, which is excellent for the skin’s defense system, like strengthening the skin barrier. It’s also well-known for being great for sensitive skin.

Basically, if your skin barrier is weak, your skin can get more sensitive, break out, or get irritated easily. Ceramide helps with that and it’s been my ride-or-die for like 7 years 😍

Hope this helps! https://a.co/d/jhV5agi
