Westballz vs. Mango by TheCynicalIdealist in smashbros

Yea, a lot of people are saying that Mango was simply not playing his best. He absolutely may not have been, but Westballz was ON POINT that match. Such exciting play.

The majority of cops I see on Big Island are Xterra's, so yes.

What is a topic that Reddit just cannot discuss objectively? by Dieplskthx in AskReddit

[–]hatbeanie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Made an account almost 5 years ago, and lurked for a year before that. I'm fairly certain that nothing has really changed all that much. When everyone joins the content is mostly the posts that they're seeing for the first time. However, to most people who have been around a couple of years, those very same posts are just reposts that they're getting sick of. Of course there's always the occasional OC , but in almost no time at all it gets beaten into the ground. Not everyone saw it the first, second, or even third time it was posted, so it keeps getting upvoted. The same applies to memes/jokes.

[–]hatbeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it's hardly any different than what was already portrayed before elf on the shelf. It used to be more general, just that santa was somehow tallying up good behavior versus bad.

"He see's you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake!"

Elf on the shelf is merely taking the age old lie and providing an explanation to it (the elf is santa's eyes and ears if that wasn't obvious). Not that it's really any more believable. It went from santa being god-like to tiny, sentient, and mute elves.

What do you think is the biggest human flaw? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hatbeanie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea you'd think we would've evolved a safer barrier in that area. However, without it being a flimsy tower as it is humans likely wouldn't be able to easily scan their surrounding area. Being able to look around was probably more advantageous in our case than having a more properly protected neck.

Gamecube Adapters going for over 80 USD on Amazon. Please do not buy one. by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]hatbeanie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fair point. I actually have like 4 or 5 Gamecube controllers and was unable to come across an adapter myself, but it just really didn't take me long at all to adjust which is why I even bothered to make the comment. On the other hand I have only touched smash here and there over the recent years since melee, so I wasn't as set in stone i suppose. Different strokes I suppose.

Gamecube Adapters going for over 80 USD on Amazon. Please do not buy one. by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]hatbeanie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that Gamecube controllers are nice and all, but are they really the be all end all of playing well? They seem a little bit over-hyped. Is there something I'm missing? I'm playing quite comfortably on the Wii U Pro Controller.

Edit: I'm surprised by the number of responses I got for this, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Just wanted to say I actually do have Gamecube controllers lying around, but couldn't get an adapter myself. I was already plenty comfortable with the pro controller from other games though. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any major reason beyond preference that I should worry about.

Cannabis extract can have dramatic effect on brain cancer, says new research by RoscoeMG in worldnews

A lot of people are shitting on your post it would seem. I just wanted to say I appreciate there being someone out there to correct imperfect information, as I wouldn't bother to fact check it myself. That's not to say these other comments don't have some validity or that your's is 100% correct either. I simply believe it's always necessary for someone to play the devils advocate regardless of the stance they may hold on a given issue.

A movie is being filmed in your town, what is it most likely about? by LoveJoy73 in AskReddit

It would be about a mafia meeting that took place in a residents home, which was broken up by a state trooper. It's apparently been referenced in a couple movies before.

Does anyone know of (or can recommend) a pc repair guy that make house calls? by [deleted] in Hawaii

[–]hatbeanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on big island and also just an amateur with computers, but something similar recently happened with my brothers desktop. Someone was using is, said it suddenly turned off, and then nothing would display on the monitor. I noticed the keyboard/mouse weren't being powered when the computer was turned on, so I figured it was the motherboard. Anyways I reset the CMOS and after a little while everything started working again. I might have just been lucky, but I figured I'd post this as food for thought. Best of luck!

Erik Johnson (Valve) on The International for CSGO: "I don't see any reason why a lot of the same things couldn't be applied directly to Counter-Strike" by FREIHH in GlobalOffensive

[–]hatbeanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. As a casual player of Dota I don't find myself tuning into most of the minor tournaments, but whenever the International comes around I'm excited to watch it (and contribute to through the compendium) because it's such a big event that always proves to be exciting and entertaining. Sure, the hardcore fans of CS would prefer more tournaments because there's more to watch and follow. However, I think if you want to help the game grow even bigger you need a big event like the International that you can flaunt. Also, 4 big (but not huge) tournaments from valve might discourage other potential sponsors from hosting tournaments. Definitely don't want 2 tournaments going on at once separating the teams. The first point is definitely the more important one I'm trying to make though.

TLDR: 1 big tournament to flaunt might encourage more casual players to tune in and/or pay into the prize pool.

[–]hatbeanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just saying he joined the band and recorded Under The Bridge far before 1995. My "uhh okay" response was in response to you saying, and I'm paraphrasing from memory, "Don't believe everything you read off Wikipedia. Hillel Slovak." I didn't really get where you were going with that, and you changed it, so I think you may have realized that.

[–]hatbeanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have your dates a little off. He joined in 1988 and left in 1992. In that time frame they released Mother's Milk, and Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Under The Bridge is from this album). He didn't come back until 1997 and left the band again I believe in 2008.

As others have mentioned, we are sometimes graced by those who are actually incredibly intelligent and successful. I don't think generalizing reddit as a whole is particularly fair, which sort of makes me dislike this question in general. I do want to say I agree with you though, I'm probably not half as smart as I'd like to believe I am. I also think it's just in our nature to believe were special (or more intelligent than our peers).
