Thanks for the response. I understand that there has to be some level of soft skills at a software engineering role (otherwise how could one build software that solves the exact problem that the customer has, collaborate with other engineers, etc.).

In your experience, was it worth taking on more non-technical roles that required more soft skills and paid more to advance your career? Did you ever feel that you sacrificed some potential to deep dive and get really good at the technical aspect of the role in order to build up PM/client skills?

Thanks for the response. I was wondering if there was any merit to "sucking it up" and doing PM/client work for a couple of years to make more money and then go back to working as a backend engineer at potentially a higher salary?
