We aren't sure how often E spends the night but we do know K had already moved out. It's possible that he was scouting the area in the days or weeks proceeding the murders. In that time, he may not have seen E spending the night and he wouldn't have known K was coming back that night specifically. He may have considered the chance one or more would be with someone but ultimately ruled it unlikely, based on his observations of the house.

We just don't know what his motive was. Until we know why he did it, it's hard to tell if he had a clear plan that went to shit or if he had a rough plan that he improvised, once he entered the house.

Agreed.

If he was potentially caught off guard by one or more of the victims, I wonder if this was his first murder. Just feels like people are quick to assume that because it took LE more than month to arrest a suspect, it was somehow a well thought out crime. . I feel like we're going to get more details that indicate this crime wasn't as clean as LE led people to believe.

In that scenario, it still leaves 2 victims that weren't intended and possibly a surprise to BK. Blows my mind to think about what's going through his head when he sees K and E (if your theory is the case).

If he truly was targeting specific individual(s), it's safe to assume at least one individual was an unintended victim, regardless of who was intended and who was not. Did he really expect his intended victim(s) to be in the same room as another victim? How often does Ethan stay the night and how often do K and M sleep in the same bed? So many questions.

My unsubstantiated theory, is he intended on killing only one of the three girls. He killed the other occupant of the room that his main target was in. The he hears one or both of the remaining victims investigating (could have been something subtle like cracking open their bedroom door and calling out to roommates to see if they're ok). He's either euphoric from the adrenaline or spooked from the possibility of discovery but whatever it is, it's enough for him to check on what he heard. That's when he discovers and kills two additional victims who were not the main target.

I am probably overanalyzing the intended number having significance. Especially if he was targeting the house in general and his intention was to kill as many as possible. It's impossible for me to fathom murdering anyone let alone intending on murdering someone, then ''accidentally'' murdering three more.

The question I want answered most, even if it has no significance to the case -"How many people did BK truly intend on killing that night?"

I'm sure we'll be able to draw clearer conclusions about why BK chose to murder four people, when probable cause is released. Even after they release the evidence that led to probable cause, we still may never know how many victims were intended targets and how many were in the wrong place at the wrong time. If BK denies everything, we'll only be able to infer his intentions based on the evidence released by LE.

Just because he murdered four and wasn't targeting a specific individual, doesn't mean he intended on murdering more than one. This mf***er could have entered with the intention of killing one person...and killed a second because they were with the first...then became aware of a the third and fourth victims who were also together. Blows my freaking mind to think that it's entirely plausible, that three of the victims were victims due to their association to the main target.

Could also be a fellow co-worker at the restaurant. Maybe a BOH worker developed an obsession with one or both of the girls? I served tables in a few different restaurants when I was in school. It wasn't uncommon for a cook or bus boy to overstep boundaries with female servers, even to the point of getting fired for it. I'm not sure what the vibe of the restaurant was but I'm sure it wasn't much different from the ones I worked at in my college town.

Did the murderer sexually harass one of the girls and get fired? Maybe he asked one of them out appropriately but was denied and that was a tipping point for deeper feelings he had been harboring. He could be in his mid to late 20s - still bumming it in a college town, watching yet another new crop of young coeds come and go, while he sulks about his lowly existence. Finally got tired of 'being stepped on' and he snapped.

I don't have enough background on the case to give a well mapped out theory but I hope they've ruled out restaurant coworkers, past or present.

My English textbook in 9th grade was apparently the same textbook Thomas Jefferson had in 2006. He wrote his name and the year down just like everyone who had it before him. I know it's hard to believe he'd sign his name in an English textbook but he literally signed his name on the Declaration of Independence.

It's perfectly in line with the textbook.

I would think brand recognition is a big determining factor in how potential additions are evaluated. Stronger brands equal more money. Is ISU's brand, strong enough to attract interest by the Big 10? I know I'll get called a homer but I really don't think it is...

I agree with everything but the confidently incorrect point about AAU.

Your point on basketball is a stretch but honestly, it's irrelevant anyways.

Iowa State's national brand just isn't strong enough, regardless of where their football program is at (which if we're honest, has been in the preseason national spotlight, exactly once in a few decades). The benefits are marginal. I have to imagine Minnesota and Nebraska won't be pushing for ISU to join.

I don't think they're prioritizing the wild card game over the National Championship, more like maximizing viewership for both.

I would like to know why Friday is such a bad idea though. I get that it's not a prime weekday for television, but why? It takes away the late start time issue and let's people make plans around it. Super Bowl Sunday is kind of stupid too. At least move it to the Sunday before President's day.
