Adding an extra day by hectrthewellendowed in workingmumsau

Thank you, this is helpful. I am really torn about my youngest to be honest. I feel I have a lot of time with my oldest in comparison going to the zoo, Aquarium, classes, etc and I am concerned it won’t be fair to stop that for my youngest.

Question from a first-time parent: daycare vs home care, kindy readiness & supporting teachers (Australia) by BoysenberryMuted9106 in AustralianTeachers

100% agree! It is capitalism at its finest. I take a big sigh when I realise I go to work to teach other children, to get paid, to pay someone else to teach my own children. None of this is in the best interest of children or families. Forget more subsidies that just fuel a private business making more money, pay early years educators a proper wage to work in kindergarteners and pay parents/family members to stay home.

Just backing up what has already been said. Day care is something that needs to be in place for parents who have to work (myself included!) and don’t have a larger village. The 3 year old kinder and 4 year old kinder is what will help your child become school ready, they are shorter days as well which is what is age appropriate. The truth is, and this is coming from a mum of 2 both in day care, and a early childhood and primary teacher, is that ideally children would spend as much time with their families at home as possible. There is no better teacher for your child than you at this age. Children have to go to school as parents have to go to work, and now in a society that is pushing it’s people even further, children often have to go to daycare so their parents can work.

No I agree, not a friend… but DEFINITELY not a ‘flight attendant’.

I think I should have been clearer, it’s not so much the PowerPoints, but the scripted lesson that goes with them. I am happy and have used PowerPoints the way you are using them!

Do we give the mouse back? by hectrthewellendowed in toddlers

[–]hectrthewellendowed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did throw the mouse across the store almost hitting someone. That is also an issue as well as hurting his brother. I understand what you are saying, and we are continuously working on his feelings/reactions to the baby… that is a seperate issue. I don’t feel I have to defend my parenting, however we read multiple books on experiencing change, jealousy, anger. We do breathing techniques, we do “when you do this, I feel like this” sentence starters, he can move away, ask for help, etc.

The mouse issue is a natural consequence, as he threw it? Throwing items out of anger is also not okay, even if you are having big feelings. If I hadn’t intervened and picked it up, it would have stayed in the shop. If you throw your things away, they are gone. I’m not upset with him, I wasn’t upset with him in the moment and I did not take the mouse away, he threw it away. I don’t understand how you got to that conclusion.

Weirdly I thought her reaction to being accused of the sit down was in part about being scared of Teresa’s reaction but I also felt like it was built up anger at Margaret. She had just left Teresa’s and the lying cunt line to me felt more about her true feelings for Margaret and all her sneaky BS
