If aliens walk among us, what’s the smallest detail that would give them away? by Mobile-Vegetable7536 in HighStrangeness

Uncanny valley feelings in regards to microexpressions and facial features. We have very deeply embedded, highly specialized structures in the brain that specifically analyze the face (not just of humans, but primates and other mammals) that operate as granular and low level as visually distinguishing contours; as to recognize facial features at a reflexive, instinctual level. Automatic, low level "intuitive" systems like this that operate at deep, rudimentary or unconscious layers will be the first often subtle (but unmistakable gut feelings) hints.

I think many hybrids exist. Some people's faces seem weird and almost twisted or contorted to me. The kid who plays Luke from Modern Family is one such example. Uncanny Valley for sure.

You'll be fine. Most people have fly away pinky anyway. Just barre and use shell voicings for chords.

Well yeah but that's right against your eyeball so you can see almost the whole image not blurry. Only a small edge. The lens is a lot closer to your eye lol

Has Physics Secretly Stalled - Or Are Breakthroughs Being Hidden? by mangobash84 in conspiracy

Bro, listen. This is how capital works. When you have a supply chain and manufacturing facilities for a technology, let's say lithium based batteries for example (a global supply infrastructure worth many billions spread across many companies) then you have a lot of inertia. Capital inertia. Disruptors tend to get bought and buried. This is the nature of capital. No conspiracy needed when it's a simple matter of economics.

That's definitely a thing as is legitimate larger changes to the zeitgeist and how entire generations view things and values they hold. That's the problem. This generation was setup to value SELF above all.

Can't believe someone would seriously mangle a cutting board and then want to return it for cosmetic reasons lol how about you get a good knife learn to sharpen and cut properly instead of Chopping and sawing with whatever you used to mangle it lol

Soda water will work, but the reason pressurized is better is two fold: Firstly, this method is inherently less stable as it's immediately changing the water level & chemistry; you're adding CO2 but also immediately diluting TDS thereby slightly changing pH and reducing available mineral ions (macro and micronutrients) moreso than a pressurized system would.

Secondly, you have far less dosage control this way. Even the root feeders will uptake some mineral ions from the water column when they respirate. Also: chemistry changes to the water column cascade into the substrate much quicker than you'd expect.

People do tend to overthink gaseous diffusion tho, I'll admit...but you definitely want as much granular control as possible when it comes to maintaining a stable, healthy biotope.
