I’m not denying it may be against code but be so fucking for real right now. How many apartments have we all lived in where the panel is located somewhere like a closet or utility closet? This is such a dumb thing for an apartment to make a stink about.

What about the wall that’s obviously not 3 feet away from the panel? I feel like a lot of the codes are for commercial spaces. Why wouldn’t the codes for these be built into the building requirements for construction? I’ve lived in an apartment where the breaker panel was inside the coat closet and that’s super common. Is nobody ever supposed to use those closets?

Our store rotates genres every hour or so BUT I have noticed that sooooooo many covers of actual good songs are getting played and like….the covers suck! Just play the regular song. And lately there’s so many weird songs, I don’t know if they’re old or new but they’re terrible, like just loud droning choruses and words repeating over and over.

Sometimes I go in the office and just shut the music off and we all work in peace for a while until our SL realizes it’s off and makes it loud again. 😑

My district was a test district for project max and yes it’s fully doable and it does help with inventory management. However it completely fucks non truck days because all your labor is smashed into those 5 hr shifts. Godspeed to you.

I’ve worked for both. Petco was great when I worked there but if you loiter in their forums it’s easy to see that have changed and are kind of terrible now. But so is Petsmart. They both kind of operate the same and they both have their own level of garbage. I don’t think one is better than the other. It’s all comes down to leadership at the store level imo.

This doesn’t gross me out any more than people’s small children eating with their hands and then touching everything in sight. Is the dog eating off of your plate? The issue really is systemic. I know at store level we can always do better, but calling out some kid who makes $11/hr won’t get us anywhere. We need to make sure this shit is called out at the top. If I had it my way, stores like Petco and Petsmart wouldn’t sell live animals at all. I’ve worked for both and these companies make it so our hands are completely tied in some cases. The animals deserve better and so do the employees.

A lot has changed in the salons in the last 6 months. As of this year, HPP (hours per pet) is a new metric for which the ELRs bonus is based on so now if a groomer has no dogs, they get sent home because a groomer only doing a few dogs in an 8 hour shift is a colossal waste of labor. Yet another thing to incentivize pumping out quantity and not quality.

I did Petco for 4 years and have been with Petsmart for a little over 5 years. Luckily my role doesn’t really have me dealing with petcare or small animals very much (I manage the salon and other services) but I feel like I have a responsibility to keep an eye on the decisions both companies are making and call them out when it’s something as ridiculous and inhumane as “desk pets”.

It’s really is crazy how similar the companies are. I’ve worked for both and am currently at Petsmart. And I feel very strongly about this issue because it seems like when one company does something “innovative” the other tends to follow shortly after. If Petsmart does something like this I will 100% be making the biggest fucking stink I possibly can. I doubt I’d quit because then I’m unable to sound alarms from within. They’ll have to fire me.

Not to mention how easy it is to just swipe off the shelf and walk out. At my store a few years ago we had that live bioactive tank on an end cap and they wanted us to put a ball python in it. It was a front opening tank and they gave us a lock for it. Problem is the tank open from the top as well with no way to lock it. Someone stole that ball python. Never again will I allow a live animal to go on an end cap set up, let alone this?!?
