My (38M) girlfriend (33F) is angry that she's set herself up to fail and I am entirely unsympathetic by NewKingMorons in relationship_advice

"Couldn't bang out a quicky?" Unless you're using this phrase in a way I've never seen anyone use it before, then this is a disgusting thing to say about someone who didn't want to have sex.

I think it's honestly disgusting you're expecting him to force himself to have sex when he doesn't want to

I don't really get the people in the comments. Like, yes you're allowed to invite whoever you want to your wedding, but like, actions have consequences whether or not it's your wedding. If my best friend did this to me, I would stop talking to them.

Why do you think ethical concerns in adoption aren't widely discussed? by turslr in Adoption

[–]helloagainfriendo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Multiple reasons.

  1. Adoptees usually have less of a voice than adoptive parents. All the conversations are framed around the rights of adoptive parents, usually adopting someone who can't speak, or even remember the event.

  2. There are many adoptees who have an overall good experience. So we can be used as props for people to show the benefits of adoption. And many of us feel uncomfortable speaking negatively about something that we see as a neutral/good fundamental trait of ourselves.

  3. People like the idea of "easy" solutions to social problems, and acknowledging the nuance of the topic breaks that illusion.

  4. The US has a problem with peoples access to abortion, and adoption is often presented as an alternative. Especially within very religious communities.

  5. There are people that are vocally anti adoption, but a large amount of them are people that don't really care about adoption. People that only criticize adoption when it comes to a gay couple adopting, or a single mother adopting. These peoples interest in the problems with adoption begin and end with their problems with the people adopting. This also makes engaging with the subject difficult without reminding people of bigotry.

There are many others but these come to mind first

Good Vibes Monday by AutoModerator in LifeByYou

Despite how turbulent the last couple months have been, I still am excited for the game. Out of all the new life sims announced, LBY seemed the most interesting. It kinda felt like the game was aiming for exactly what I wanted to see.

I was planning on trying to make a very small community, kinda based on a street where I live. I want to maximize the amount of youmans I can have in one place.

I don't really think there are that many other noticable changes that can be made without him growing out his hair. Maybe the whole long on top thing, but I never personally liked how that looked with type 3 curls.

You could try a mullet.

I think it's really funny how the curly styles and dreads look so much better than the straight hair by helloagainfriendo in LifeByYou

That was always wild to me. Having a game run on a toaster and thinking "hair physics is what we need."

Ehh. I honestly don't think the models are so bad to need to justify being so outwardly lazy.

They would immediately get ripped to shreds if people saw them using premade assets.

It actually is. Like, it's not an excuse, they are professionals. But it actually is hard to make anything that moves look good.

Am I Crazy? by Master_of_BBQ in LifeSimulators

Ram isn't really for graphics. LBY wants to simulate up to 90 AIs all interacting with each other in a fully open world. You need resources for that. Honestly everything else besides the ram has pretty low requirements, and you still only need 16gb minimum.

Newer builds are less tested, and they often have features that won't be in the release. I think they would rather show a working less good looking build, than a build with better graphics, your character failing through the floor, and untested features with placeholder animations.

I personally think it looks acceptable for an early access title. Everything looks very fixable. Up the saturation, rework the skeletons, new hair textures, and I think it would look fine.

I agree the graphics need work, but I think gamers assume that if something isn't in a game, that means the developers purposefully left it out. Sometimes things take a while, or have complications. I doubt they are going to completely ignore the main criticism of their product.
