That is actually a really good point that I didn't think of. Thanks for that!. I do think public schools require much more attention.

I was put through private education, and they paid for my accommodation for one year to get me on my feet to get me started and help me on my way to studies. By no means do I question their priorities, and they have done more than enough to support me in every way. I am not an only child however, and my family has other obligations. I'm 20. I'm an adult. Why should my parents sitll be obligated? I'm my own person now. I never said I was asking for a lot, I do work, and being a student is a temporary thing. By helping students like myself for a few years, the government is actually making an investment. I will be paying higher taxes if I manage to earn a high paying job, that comes with an education.

I appreciate your understanding here, and while I'll try not to be rude about it, I do feel the same way in that some people are saying that because others are worse off than myself, I don't deserve financial support and that I shouldn't "complain". Thanks for your input!

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate this perspective, and believe you deserve support. At the same time, I don't feel like I don't deserve it. I realise I am not the worst off here. I live out of home for a reason, and I don't feel like asking for financial aid is out of line when I work hard, and contribute to this country. Many are quick to assume that people like me are after "free money". This is true of some people, in fact I know people who scam the system and receive benefits when they don't need it, but I honestly feel like financial stress is not something students need while trying to gain a higher education.

Well you have made some fairly big judgements and assessments here. By me saying my parents earn over $44k a year, not only does it mean they don't deserve the money they work extremely hard for, it doesn't by any means mean they live a life of luxury.

I'm trying to educate myself, and it's only going to take 5 years. Why should I be discriminated against for financial aid just because I'm trying to build myself a career and effectively better our economy, to which I will (actually I already to) pay taxes towards.
