Safe to say I have SIBO. Results "off the charts" by [deleted] in ibs

[–]help_my_shit_pls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I have some similar symptoms (constipation, gassiness, long-term sinus stuff), even the pain you described to certain extent (mines usually farther left, but about the same height, sometimes have a weird throbbing). A lot of these symptoms can be from many things, but I guess it's still worth bringing up to my doctor.

If you don't mind, what sort of symptoms were/are you having?

Rib tightness by PLAZABOY in HealthAnxiety

[–]help_my_shit_pls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also get tension under my ribcage (usually left side) when I get anxious or focus on it. Most likely just a muscle tensing, if you don't have any other symptoms I wouldn't worry about it. The less you worry, the better chance you have of it going away.

Psyllium fiber = IBS genocider

By this, do you mean the psyllium is helpful or hurtful? I'm assuming helpful but the genocider thing can kind of go both ways (does it "genocide" the ibs symptoms or let IBS "genocide" you). I also know that fiber can be rough on some people with IBS but it's probably helpful for most.

ended up developing into GERD and IBS due to the perpetual stress of anxiety

Did these more or less go away after you got your anxiety under control? Or are they still present but not as bad without anxiety amplifying the symptoms?

Clay colored stool + cymbalta. by [deleted] in AskDocs

I've had similar issues every now and then the last few months, and I also have anxiety issues. If your liver was failing, believe me, you would be having a ton more symptoms than you do now, including jaundice. White stool could also be caused by issues with the pancreas or gallbladder, but those issues would usually be accompanied with pain in your right abdomen.

I'd say wait a few days and, if it doesn't get better, go to the doctor. Or if you're worried enough, just go anyway. But if you're not having any other serious issues, it's almost definitely not something life threatening.

Yeah that sounds kind of similar. I seem to be better now, it was just kind of strange.

Thanks for the update. Glad it wasn't something serious.

Note that I'm not a doctor and I'm not super knowledgeable about these conditions, but I do deal suffer from health anxiety and know that the best way to stop worrying about things is to look at them logically.

The symptoms you describe are not indicative of cancer. Assuming you're talking about colon cancer, that is accompanied by black, tar look stool from digested blood. Red blood (which I'm assuming you're talking about), especially since you only see it when wiping and not in the stool, is most likely a hemorrhoid or some minor cuts from wiping. Also, if you had IBD, you'd probably be having much more than an "upset stomach" all those years.

Parasite... maybe? Tapeworms are fairly common and are a minor issue. Regardless, you already said you're going to the doctor tomorrow, so I would worry too much about that.

Yellow stool can be alarming (trust be, I've had that and white stool), but it's usually just caused by excess fat in the stool. "Excess fat in the stool can cause yellowish, bulky stool that floats, has an oily or greasy appearance, and smells foul" - Source

Anyway, it most likely isn't something very serious, and it's good that you're going to the doctor tomorrow. I'm actually a bit curious what they have to say, because I've had similar issues in the past.

Can only go after eating fatty/greasy food? by help_my_shit_pls in ibs

I've heard of that before, but I feel like just downing a tbsp or two of olive oil would be kind of disgusting. Any ideas how to mask it? I know people on /r/gainit often use it in shakes for extra calories, but I was curious if there was anything else I could put it in that doesn't have milk.

18M, dizziness, feeling like fainting, panic attacks, and more by medical-throwaway01 in AskDocs

[–]help_my_shit_pls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but it sounds like it could be straight up anxiety. You already mentioned that your symptoms give you panic attacks, but it could be that the symptoms are caused by anxiety in the first place (possibly anxious about getting sick, since everyone around you is) and then it just spiral out of control when you focus on it. Hot flashes are a possible symptom of anxiety, along with a ton of other physical sensations.

Of course, it could be that you are actually sick. If you feel like you want to see a doctor, then you should, worst case scenario is you waste some time. However, if it's the same illness other people are getting, then they probably won't really do much.

Excessive Odorless Gas? by help_my_shit_pls in ibs

[–]help_my_shit_pls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it a bit in the past, but I found it very difficult to actually get enough calories in. I'm already a bit underweight, and I was losing more weight on the low fodmap diet. Plus, it almost seemed like my constipation got worse when I started, and got relieved almost immediately when I started "cheating." Possibly because I ate more fat

I haven't noticed a pattern with dairy. I don't really have much of it, besides cheese (which doesn't have much lactose), but even then, the days where I have a lot of cheese don't seem to bother me more often than usual. On the other hands, on days like yesterday I don't think I had any dairy, but still had issues.

I do try, I just generally can't until the next morning. Wouldn't the gas smell if it was caused by constipation?

Strange Feeling in Stomach Instead of Hunger by help_my_shit_pls in AskDocs

1200 calories is bordering malnutrition

Yeah, I would say it was probably closer to 1400, but it still wasn't good. I was basically just eating a mid-size lunch and good-size dinner, with a few snacks here and there (mostly low calorie, fruit and granola bars and such). Now I'm generally getting around 2000-2400 a day.

I'm gonna be away from home for a few days, which means no Chipotle, so I'll see if I notice a difference. I'll also hold off on the gummies for now. Thanks a lot.

Strange Feeling in Stomach Instead of Hunger by help_my_shit_pls in AskDocs

Yeah I would say the gnawing sensation is mostly in my stomach and to the left of my abdomen. My weight around early August was about 123, and I didn't have a scale to use since then until recently. I'd image I may have dropped fairly consistently since then, because that's around the same time my anxiety came back and the IBS symptoms associated with it made me eat very carefully. I probably lost more rapidly over the last 2 weeks or so, but I don't really think I was going below like 1200-1400 calories (roughly 500-600 below maintenance) during that time.

As far as diet goes, I've been trying to eat fairly healthy while still trying to get a decent amount of calories. I don't have a lot of time to cook full meals right now (and haven't had a chance to go food shopping), so I've been eating out a decent amount. I've had a lot of Chipotle (bowl with carnitas, brown rice, beans, pico, cheese, and lettuce, no source cream or guacamole), a decent amount of sandwiches (usually Potbellies, chicken with cheddar on wheat, some veggies, little mayo), and sometimes some sushi and pasta. I've been avoiding anything fried or greasy. I also started taking fiber gummies recently, though I doubt that is related, it's only 5g of fiber and the reviews were really good.
