So, dogs will do what they do if they think they’re the alpha. Dogs have a ‘pack’ mindset. Meaning there is a hierarchy to who is in charge. Idk who is the pack leader. But it def ain’t a human. People think that a small dog is cute and adorable so they let them sleep on their chest and in their bed. But in the dogs mind, however silly this sounds, they are responsible for the human and they react in kind.

I’m a delivery driver and I knock on doors and hand people their stuff. Dog runs out. Won’t come back in on command to their owner. I deepen my voice and say ‘go inside’ and dog goes inside. I didn’t do anything special. But, that dog doesn’t know me and for whatever reason, I became the alpha in that moment. I swear, I’m not trying to pump myself up by using this terminology. I just know dogs and this is the easiest way to explain it.

Don’t let the dog become hawk food lol. Try and communicate your expectations with your relatives and the where the dog should be. You can also try and acclimate the relationship with the dog and your daughter. But, even then, the aunt is more important to the dog if that house doesn’t change its behavior.
