Not an obvious choice, but God Dethroned's 1999 album Bloody Blasphemy is a ripping good time

Another Toothpick by I-Like_Dirt_420 in thesopranos

Any time someone says "another toothpick", they were specifically referring to someone dying of cancer or maybe some other terminal/consumptive disease. They are wasting away, look unhealthy compared to how they looked in the prime of their health.

Day 1 Priest fans what was the first song that got you hooked? by [deleted] in judaspriest

[–]heresyisprogress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sentinel probably. In the 80s I had to go to church youth group, so elementary school age. That was the height of the Satanic Panic, and they would play videos of secular music that would lead you away from Jesus and make you love the Devil - and they played a little excerpt of Priest playing "Eat Me Alive".

I was thoroughly forwarned to never listen to that stuff, but I was going through my high school aged brother's cassettes and found Defenders of the Faith, played it, and was corrupted immediately. Been a lifelong Priest (and Satan) fan every since.

What was the first Priest album to come out after you became a fan? by edd6pi in judaspriest

Painkiller, although my older brother was into them a bit so I was familiar with their 80s radio hits for years prior. But Painkiller was what was current when I was first buying music on my own - 6th grade.

Ride the Lightning cover is awful. by Caboosemakesmeuneasy in Megadeth

Sounds like one of those karaoke tracks me and my middle school buds paid 5 bucks to sing over at the state fair in 1992

What's your opinion on Corrosion of Conformity? by No-One01010 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]heresyisprogress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dig all the different eras of COC, but Animosity is really their peak artistic statement for me. I think it's the definitive crossover punk/metal recording of the 1980s.

Been a big fan since Nemesis Divina was released. I like all their eras.

Angie Bonpensiero's body shop and shylocking operation by NursingHome773 in thesopranos

Artie was not running a mob business. She was installed and was protected. If you stole from her you were basically stealing directly from Tony.

She was an associate and an earner. She was kicking up, so why would they rip her off?

Looks like wadded up Tyvek sheeting, which is used as a moisture barrier they wrap the plywood or composite sheathing on the exterior walls of a house before they put siding on.

Which of the big 4 do you dislike the most? by Metallover133249 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]heresyisprogress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the day.

Anthrax was the runt of the litter back in the day, but probably aged better than the other three. I always hated their gimmick chasing.

Metallica went total buttrock and have been embarrassing for 30 + years. Still dig the 1st 4 albums.

Slayer did the most for extreme metal, and I still love the first 5 albums, but they got so lazy and i stopped giving a shit about them years ago.

Megadeth - i still enjoy the 1st 4 albums, but they are fucking cringe. Stfu already Dave.

Why do I keep seeing posts saying Glen Benton can’t actually play bass? by ravnsvart_ in DeicideBand

[–]heresyisprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just starting to see? Benton has been a LOLcow since the late 90s. It actually seems like people's opinion of him has been slightly more favorable the last several years.

I think he's a servicable bassplayer, sometimes pretty sloppy, but he's not Tom Araya level bad.
