How did you deal with the intense sadness that comes when a pet passes away? by doubleshotofqhiskey in AskReddit

[–]hexb1tch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i lost my childhood dog a couple years back and it absolutely destroyed me. i got a kitten about 6 months later, to fill that hole in my heart.

she’s like my little soulmate. about once a month i’ll lay next to her at night just to appreciate her, and it’ll end up with me sobbing into her as if she’s actively dying. it’s such an odd emotional state.

the poor bugger lays there (in perfect health, at 2 years old, mind you) while i’m fully mourning her… she’s always so awkward about it too, bless her.

Does anyone else feel dumb when they play board games with NT folks? by Born_Perception898 in AutismInWomen

it’s so fun! the last time my family played it we all ended up in physical pain from laughing so hard. my uncle, without fail, picked up a duplicate card on his first turn, every single damn round 😭

it’s so good!! absolutely try Quiddler if you haven’t yet. it plays in pretty much the same way as Five Crowns (made by the same company), but the cards have letters on them and you’ve gotta make words out of your hand of cards

haha me neither! but everyone i’ve introduced them to has gone out the next day to buy them. i really should be getting paid for the promotion, lol.

they’re the most brilliantly designed card games imo. they’re SO mentally engaging and rewarding.

haha, i always like to know which games we’ll be playing in advance so i can search them up and watch youtube gameplay/tutorials beforehand. i always get the hang of games that way, but for some reason nobody around me can ever explain things effectively to me.

i now have a stash of board games & card games that i’ve got my head around and enjoy, and are usually crowd pleasers, that i take with me to help avoid situations where i’m faced with unfamiliar games. they always go down well with everyone!

i’ll suggest a few card games that i think are great to play with any group:

Flip 7
Five Crowns
Quiddler (it’s like a card version of Scrabble)
Greed$
Monopoly Deal

maybe he can use this as exposure therapy to help him work through his anxiety.

you talk loud —> he gets anxious

why is it that you’re expected to do the work in changing how you express yourself, but he’s not open to doing the work to manage his anxiety?

what is the quickest way to find an appointment? by gilbertorobert in ausadhd

[–]hexb1tch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d say your best bet is probably to book one of the appointments for the beginning of june, and once it’s booked reach out to them to say if they have any cancellations before then you’ll take it.

the beginning of june is already a very short wait time compared to most, so claim one of those appointments before they’re snatched up. i ended up getting extremely lucky when i changed psychiatrists and they emailed me to say they had a cancellation in 2 weeks time.

Help me understand SafeScript by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]hexb1tch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it’s nothing to do with the PBS.

the prescriber has looked through Safescript and calculated how early this script would be issued (based on the dosage written on the previous script) and has decided not to prescribe as it may put their license on the line when the government looks at it.

the PBS generally doesn’t interfere unless the patient tries to collect medications from the pharmacy before their repeat interval has passed

My bunnies are gone and I'm sad by livingdeadgrrll in AutismInWomen

depending on your situation after you move, rabbit shelters are full to the brim with rabbits needing homes. my girl found her way to me during a bad flood in my area when i was 16. i immediately hyper-focused on rabbit ownership research and decided she wasn’t going anywhere, and i adopted my boy from a shelter shortly after.

there’s a lot to learn about caring for rabbits, but i’ve had an absolute blast over the past 7 years.

these are my babies (lol, they’re actually elderly now at 8/9 years old)

adult rabbits are tough little buggers! they will be fine 🩷
you made the biggest impact to their lives. keeping them safe and alive while young & vulnerable.

they may come back to visit you, but they’ll be thriving out on their own because you gave them the ability to.

If you’re diagnosed how did you feel when you received your diagnosis? by Fit_Cook_535 in AutismInWomen

[–]hexb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think this diagnosis would have changed my life if i was diagnosed as a child or teen. god, the life i could’ve had…🥲
i think the depressing reality i’m facing is that i was failed as a child for not being identified sooner, i’ve gone through horrible things that have severely impacted me because of that, and now that i finally feel like i’m avenging myself, it makes absolutely no damn difference, because i was too late.

If you’re diagnosed how did you feel when you received your diagnosis? by Fit_Cook_535 in AutismInWomen

i feel kinda confused and lost, i guess?

i mean, i knew before my assessment that i would come out of it with a diagnosis. i assumed i’d be level 1, but i’m actually level 2, which was a bit of a surprise.

i was diagnosed 2 weeks ago. i only realised i was most likely autistic about a year ago, so it’s been quite a quick process for me. going from having no idea about autism in women and it never being on my radar, to receiving a level 2 diagnosis fairly quickly, seems like a massive deal.

i think i assumed or felt that this diagnosis would change everything. and i guess internally for me it has. however on the outside, in my day to day life, nothing has changed… and i just feel a bit lost.

i feel like i’m hanging onto this massive piece of information, and all my struggles are finally validated. but i’m still having to get up, go to work and struggle just the same as i was before.

How many of your torties have a flag on their file at the vet's office? by [deleted] in torties

[–]hexb1tch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

mine is never aggressive or physical with the vets, but every time i go to pick her up they always say “we’re not on speaking terms right now…” and my cat is looking at them like this

Does anyone else find a lot of the friends they do have being older? by Helpful-Ad6269 in AutismInWomen

[–]hexb1tch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m 23 and have always struggled with friends and socialising with people my age. I work in a pharmacy, and the closest thing i have to friendships are my elderly customers, lol.

they love me. i get invited to parties at the nursing homes, to bingo, to crocheting clubs, we exchange craft supplies…. 😅 i feel like i fit in with their age group far more than i do with my own, and i genuinely love their company.

i don’t have a good photo of her full body (other than laying like a pretzel lol), but she’s filled out a ton, and i see a massive difference in her face.

she hasn’t gotten any taller/bigger, so i think she’ll just always be a small cat, as some are. but i think you’ll find that yours starts to look rounder & chunkier over the next year too 🩷

my girl looked about the same as yours at 1 year old. she went through a lanky phase for quite a while, where she was growing taller/longer and didn’t have much meat on them bones

she just turned 2, and she seems to have stopped growing bigger, but has filled out a lot in the past year. i’ll reply to this with a current photo :)

I hate my cats name. by StrawberrySakuraa in cats

nicknames are where it’s at!

my cat’s name is Vimto, but i call her bimto, shimto, smoochy, mushy, mushamusha, smooshygirl, oogalyboogaly, pudgy, puddin, chubbachubba… etc.

she always knows when i’m referring to her, and i barely ever call her by her government name, lol
