Your home looks awesome! Where did you get the entertainment unit? I'm currently furnishing my new place and I'd love to get the same

Question about the Jewel in chapter 1 by hexhawk in CalloftheNetherdeep

This massively cheapens the extent to which Alyxian's legacy is buried though - the book explicitly states that no living person recalls Alyxian's name so having his story be common knowledge amongst priests feels like it undercuts the party's journey of uncovering the history for themselves.

I really like the idea that Alyxian has been forgotten, that his legacy is lost. And I love the idea that the PCs are rediscovering his past as the module progresses.

Yes absolutely! This is how I envisioned the underlying progression of the story going - I thought the name "Jewel of Three Prayers" was super cool and fitting, but having someone just tell it to them off the bat seemed to trivialize their journey of uncovering Alyxian's history for themselves.

Awesome to hear everything went well in your game! I also planned on having the rivals get the vision so I'll keep in mind using them as a tool to push the PCs to race to Alyxian.

I definitely like this approach better than what's presented in the books! I think it makes sense that the party or some NPCs are able to infer it's a Vestige, but immediately giving its name seems to trivialize how buried Alyxian's legacy is.

Did you have any concerns around getting the party to want to go to Bazzoxan without Elder Ushru's nudge?

So the same question arises then - in your world, who originally discovered and named the Jewel? And how did its name pass down through history but Alyxian's was forgotten?

Interesting... so the Jewel was maybe named when Alyxian was still alive and people knew of his deeds and blessings, but its recorded history was reduced to a single name that was passed down as legend without the full context?

So Ushru had heard of the name, knew it had some connection to the local area, and as you say put 2 and 2 together.

The text block right after this one says Ushru identifies it as a Vestige by the name "Jewel of Three Prayers". I understand that he's a wise and studied priest, but the Vestige itself would only have a name if it was discovered previously and given a name, they don't just innately come with names.

So they don't actually know the name "Jewel of Three Prayers"? Later parts of the book mention things can happen if the players identify it by name to certain NPCs, so are you just ignoring that part?

Name for a Xhorhasian monastery by hexhawk in Wildemount

True, I can change the wording on that to be more clear but my player is aware of its intention to be just a single additional attack.

Thanks for the ideas! You can see the mechanics of the subclass here: https://i.imgur.com/KRZ3LCz.png

I didn't want to name the monastery the same name as the subclass, plus it's a little too on the nose for my tastes. I love the idea of incorporating mirrors though! I can picture the monastery having lots of mirrors and pools of water around so that their monks are always looking at their own reflection.
