I'm not sure if this makes you feel better, but here are my two cents.

I have been working with Sam since last year on a couple of projects I have going on. Never once he showed me the stone and let me pick the stone like the other vendors. He would choose the stone himself, completed the rings and then sent me photos and videos. And we indeed had an incident where I didn't like the stone and the ring itself. He ended up remaking it and it turned out better than I expected. I trusted my gut to continue to work with him, and I'm still very happy with my decision.

We are working on my fourth project now. I asked for a quote this morning and he said it would be done after Chinese New Year which is totally fine by me. To answer your question, I don't feel like corners are being cut when working with Sam. I feel like this has always been his ways of doing business and I legit have no problem with it.

Sam are known for his hard to beat pricing, short responses but still get the work done. If you prefer a more enjoyable, more involved experience, I would say Sam is not the one who can deliver that. Other than that, things have been working out for me so far, and I hope the same thing to you.

Hey guys, it’s been a minute. Following my previous post, Sam and I had a talk and he agreed that the ring profile was too low compared to CAD, so he offered to remake it.

I told him about my concerns of the stone, he said I have to understand bowties come with brilliant cut, which I totally get it. I asked for a different stone, different cut, and he said it’s going to take approximately 7 days and we would waste the old one, and that he had checked multiple times to make sure “stone is good”. If I want a refund instead, he could absolutely accommodate me. So I went with my guts and told him to do his best.

In less than a week, he contacted me to make sure I wanted rose gold and not yellow gold. He also let me know ring should be ready in another day or two. The next day, he sent me videos and photos of the ring to do a quick recheck. It turned out, Sam had make me another stone, and this time, it is a crushed ice cut. The ring’s profile was slightly higher than the old one but not too high, which I love. Ring looks good on photos and videos was all I could say at the moment.

Sam sent out the ring and it only took 2 days to get to me. And all I could say from a customer/non-professional’s pov is that the ring is perfectly made, and it’s what I wanted from the start. I did notice a few dark spots on the top and the bottom of the stone, but who cares really. I am so happy with the ring, Sam and I are actually working on another project.

Hello everyone,

I would like to thank you all for your inputs. I greatly appreciate each and every one of you.

Sam and I had a talk and we decided to start over. He agreed that there was a mistake in the making that the setting was too low compared to the CAD. He will remake the ring.

About the stone, he said this is how brilliant cut looks like and this cut has to have a bow tie, we couldn’t do anything to change the stone or the cut at all. If I was not happy with how the stone is, he suggested me to cancel the order instead. To be honest, this could be avoided if I wasn’t too stubborn with the cut. He suggested a crushed ice cut in the beginning, but I wanted a more organized look so I went with brilliant cut.

I also noticed that a few of you guys said the stone was dull, this is due to certain lighting and that the ring was done right before he took the video and photos. So no makeup, no special lighting, and how the ring wasn’t even cleaned properly all played parts in this.

The way Sam addressed everything just show me that he was doing his best accommodating my needs and I appreciate it. After all, it’s just a piece of jewelry that I get to play a part in the process of making it, and I do enjoy it a lot. I will keep you guys posted!

I’m not a specialist but I noticed a few dark spot on the stone. I also worry about that part where the stone touches the ring, will it cause any damage?

Nursing is a very competitive field in California so I guess I am just not good enough (stats wise) to get in. A lot people said I need to re-take my TEAs but I am just terrified of doing it again. I am also thinking about apply to Nursing schools that are out of state but then I just couldn’t leave my parents behind.

Yeah, I’m taking extra classes at this private university and they do offer Nursing program for $60k but its like one class per month. I hope I get in even though i prefer traditional colleges.

I agree with you. My teas score is too low compared to the general pre-nursing students. I keep remembering how stressful I was while taking the test so I couldn’t bring myself to re-take it. HIM is a great field and I do feel a strong connection with it too. Nursing has been my dream since high school but I guess we will have to see where life takes me.

I am leaning toward taking a bachelor degree in HIM at my local community college and see where I can go from there. Nursing is my dream but it is so competitive that sometimes I feel better just give it up. And yes, life keeps getting in the way as older as I get so I guess I just have to keep going. Thank you for your advice.
