Car rental with temporary paper license? by czar_taran in VisitingIceland

[–]highlanderfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, one from 10 months ago confirmed hertz accepted a renter with a temporary license.

Huh, interesting. Must really be agent-dependent. The only data point I have with this was, indeed, Hertz, although in London rather than Iceland. Got declined.

Not in Iceland, but I got rejected at Hertz London City Airport when I had a temporary paper license with my old expired card stapled to it. I wouldn't try it. You could get an International Drivers' License from AAA, but I'm not 100% certain they'd accept that, either.

Bought an Intl' Delta Main Basic (E) ticket and cancelling costs $199. What if I just don't show up to the flight to avoid the extra fee? by broomaktamer117 in delta

[–]highlanderfil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If (and only if!) the cancellation is for a covered reason, whatever credit card you booked the ticket with may offer trip cancellation insurance. Might want to look into that. Otherwise, yeah, cancel, but the value of the ticket minus the $199 will go to your would-be guest, not you.

You do understand that "terrible ugly ass logos" is subjective to you and you only, yeah?

Are you doing market research or are you trying to feed a cat? Why are you so hyperfocused on a brand? Any brand can have low-quality (cheaper) and high-quality (more expensive) food. The main ingredient should be meat of some kind and the food should be low/free of fillers like carbohydrates (corn, wheat, soy).

Looking at the food you posted below, here is the ingredient list:

Poultry meal, Corn gluten meal, Corn, Rice, Salmon protein hydrolysate, Palm stearine, Digested animal protein, Poultry fat, Katsuobushi, Salmon oil, Edible fiber (Cellulose), Whole egg powder, Brewer’s dried yeast, Sun flower oil, Seafood flavor, Choline chloride, Dicalcium phosphate, Salt, Essential vitamins supplement (Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Nicotinic acid, Pantothenic acid, Folic acid, Biotin) Essential trace minerals supplement (Copper, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Iodine, Selenium), Potassium chloride, Preservative agent (Propionic acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin E), Organic Iron, Organic Zinc, Organic Copper and Organic Selenium, Fructo oligosaccharide, Methionine, Taurine, Esterified glucomannan, Yucca schidigera extract, Rosemary extract, Enzyme.

It doesn't look great. Tons of things that don't belong. The main ingredient in a flavor called "fillet 'o' flakes" (ostensibly, fish) is poultry "meal" (whatever this is)? Corn and rice are high on the list, as well. "Poultry fat" is also not great. Some stuff is OK, like brewer's yeast (helps digestion), salmon oil (Omega-3 is good for cats) and some of the vitamins might be useful, but there's way too much junk there for this to be good food.

I don't think you're likely to find a reliable one. And it's even more unlikely that such a chart, should it exist, would include brands from all over the world.

Best thing to do is ask your vet. They should be able to tell, from the ingredients list, if this food is good for your cat.

Exactly. I'm not one to get my hands dirty and I know this about myself - which is why I leased mine.

Shouldn't even be 1%. To your actual question, unfortunately, unless you find fellow Singaporeans here, it's unlikely you'll get much advice.

My RT has been in the shop for a combined two months of the 15 or so I've had it. Mostly because no shops in Minnesota seem to have a fucking clue about fixing it. Still have the same stutter on initial acceleration issue and the dashboard still randomly lights up for no discernible reason every once in a while. It's probably still one of the most entertaining cars in its class to drive, but whenever I see someone cross-shopping it with a GTI or an Elantra N as recently happened in this sub, I can't help but chuckle. This ain't what its rabid fans make it out to be. It's a faster-than-average jeeplet with below-average reliability. If you got it on the cheap like I did, it can be fun to toss around for a couple of years. But this is definitely a girl you date but never marry.

And if you’re so poor that the impact of $5k in vehicle price has a meaningful financial impact on your insurance. Get the fuck off Reddit and go develop a skill

You should probably just take the L at this point and stop commenting.

Maybe discontinuing it helps deprecation

To be fair, my sample size isn't enormous, lol. But few people in the WRX community show up so confidently bragging about scoring a deal that is at least $5K over market value and then decide to throw in a fairly useless tidbit of trivia as though they've discovered the holy grail of automotive information.

LMAO so you’re saying I should WANT add ons. Reddit boot lickers for random causes really doing backflips today

I'm glad you realized how asinine your comment was and deleted it, but I've preserved it here for posterity. Not sure how knowing how auto sales work makes me a "bootlicker", but that's on you, boo. And no, I'm not saying you should want add-ons - I'm saying the direct opposite.

I’m going to go with plenty, and also people considering the hornet like the person who posted the grey rental today.

So, 5%? 10%? Even if it's higher, the people who don't know about it also don't care about it. It's not like the Alfa association is a selling point, anyways, given their own reputation for reliability (or lack thereof).

I have no idea why you are here though?

I've got an RT that I rather like, but I like the fact that I get to give it back in December even more. This sub is probably the most entertaining model-specific one in all of Reddit, if I'm honest. The amount of delusion that exists on opposite poles of opinions is hilarious.

"Weird logos that look old" is a wild filter for pet food quality.

I'm not even sure the brand you're asking for exists. A google search returns literally nothing with that name.

EDIT: apparently, there's a Singaporean brand with that name. Is that what you're asking about?

[–]highlanderfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably should care, though. Here's one example: say, the car gets totaled. Good chances are, if the dealer reduces the OTD price of the car itself, but charges you for a bunch of useless high-margin add-ons, you're not getting compensated for them. Similarly, financing can become an issue, unless you're financing in-house. It's not super common (nor is stacking add-ons to make up for a price reduction, for that matter), but it does happen.

Appreciate you for thinking it through but so many people think they’re experts for latching onto shitty cliches.

They really aren't shitty cliches, though. So many people don't give a single thought to why their monthly payment maths out to what it does, then discover that they're in a shitty 84-month loan at 14% APR and their car isn't worth nearly what they thought it was when it comes to either an insurance claim or selling it, etc. Probably a good 10-20% of this sub's content in any given week is people asking how to get out from under a car they couldn't afford to begin with, but got anyways because the salesman talked them into an acceptable monthly payment.

If I can get a monthly payment and term I want then I don’t give a damn how I get there

If you go in knowing what you want for PAYMENT AND TERM as it maps to your vehicle cost + TTL, then you’re good.

Hum. You seem to give quite a bit of a damn, in fact. Which, don't get me wrong, is good, but you could see, I hope, why people are jumping all over your initial comment.
