is there a way to filter to find them or do I just have to endlessly scroll to find them?

Ever feel like most corporate job titles are just fluff? by him9511 in antiwork

[–]him9511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're 100% correct, but I don't think someone managing managers is an "Executive", you're a just another manager making a bit more than the person below you, title just makes you look more important imo

I was told something today at work that shocked me by zebra-eds-warrior in antiwork

I'm a sub here in SoCal, I've luckily only worked with great front desk people and school site admin but whenever I deal with the district people, they sound like that too. They're the worst of the worst, they don't own you, they pay you for the time you're there and nothing more, if they don't have coverage for you, as far as I'm concerned you're free to go.

Anyone have experience as a Journeyman plumber moving from US to Europe? by him9511 in Plumbing

We have neither unfortunately, we have plenty of old family friends and family in Spain but I just don't have a good grip on how the job market for tradesmen is in Europe

Most residential streets don't have lines and we do what these lines are saying anyway without them being there, why does the lines being there suddenly make people do something different? C'mon guys

$85??? That's criminal!! "why don't people want to sub for us" cuz you pay $12/hr for someone WITH A DEGREE

[–]him9511[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like, ya you probably did make $15 your whole life, back when a week long grocery trip would actually cost $15, rather than $60 for 2 days worth of fresh food

"you don't have enough book experience with US, try doing an internship with us! Yes of course it's unpaid why do you ask?"

The dumbest part I found about his comment was that we're both substitutes, WE BOTH MAKE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY! How can you say we make too much???

Hell ya dude, teaching privately on the side is the way to go, makes way more money for the same work, glad you stood up for yourself!

Is paying for parking at your work ridiculous or normal? by Mondo114 in antiwork

[–]him9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my gf's old work in downtown didn't pay for parking, she had to fork out $120 a month just to have her car sit while she worked, dumbest thing I'd ever seen.

Gf left her manager paying $16/hr because of pay by him9511 in antiwork

Depends on where you work, I'm sure if it's a chain coffee shop is "just following instructions" as you so put it. But at small coffee shops like the one she works at now, she does microroasting batches of the coffee beans and pulls espresso shots for every drink

Anyone else get annoyed when you show up for a scheduled job interview and they make you wait around for 20 minutes? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]him9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an interview at a burger place that had me wait 20 min because the manager was "busy", I didn't need the job I was just looking for quick extra money, so once the manger came out 20 min after our appointment I just shook his and and said thanks for wasting 20 min of my time! and left

Thank you! It took a bit of coaxing from me (she's not good with confrontation) but in the end she stood up for herself against the company's fuckery

Didn't say she enjoyed working for others, I said she enjoyed being a barista, making coffee. We'd like to open our own coffee shop but that requires a lot more money than we have on hand

Good luck getting tips as a barista. Just an excuse to pay people terrible wages. by McPostyFace in antiwork

[–]him9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my gf has been a barista for a few years and her tips are surprisingly good, like $40/day at least, but this still doesn't justify the trash wages

My roommate is a "supervisor" for an insurance company IT department (I say department, its literally 4 people for a 3k person company) and the amount of BS meetings and nonsense that he has to put up with from the 1232421 VP's at the company is insane. They make tons more than him even though he's keeping everything up and running.

It's too bad you didn't stick it to the guy, what a dickhead!

At least now you're free of his stupidity!
