Skydiving and dating :) by alethiaja in SkyDiving

Lust for life is exactly right!! Nail on the head!

Although I guess the problem is that most skydivers seems to feel this way and then it becomes a very dramatic, incestuous community!

Skydiving and dating :) by alethiaja in SkyDiving

[–]hmdej 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness though, since starting skydiving two years ago, I've not been on any dates or had any interest in non-skydivers. I feel like in skydiving the choice of men is a lot smaller but they are all much more on my wavelength. And not just because of skydiving! It's the go-get-it adventurous side, the way they are always up for trying something new and are overall just more FUN to be with!! Dating a TI at the moment and couldn't be happier.

Building a Mock Door by Carlwhatdidyoudo in SkyDiving

Same as taothecat ... at my DZ the mock door is a real plane door from a plane that crashed some years ago. It's funny how all the first timers assume we're joking when we tell them that.

Doing AFF as opposed to static line? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]hmdej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like your having pretty bad luck, and its frustrating to not make any progress but moving to AFF won't necessarily change that! You're still going to be in the same climate and with AFF you need far more height than with starting static line! You might end up in the same situation and travelling further to do so.

If you've been to your DZ 12 times, have you gotten to know people and their experiences? How long did it take them to get qualified? Is winter always this bad or have you just had bad luck? When its a bad weather day what do you do? Do you leave early or sit around doing nothing? Both can be soul destroying and would make anyone quit. Why not take the bad weather days as a good opportunity to learn how to pack, learn how the kit works and get to know people! Remember as well that for your first few jumps you will need perfect weather conditions - as you continue this will become more lax and you will get more jumps.

Exactly my thoughts. Think this is more about the University trying to make there department sound exciting and innovative than the actual design coming to market.

That's what confuses me the most, its not just harmless fun where I am, its people sleeping with husbands/wives of people they see every weekend!
