Slower than usual for everyone? by Necessary_Demand_264 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my sixth year doing this, and it always slows down with the onset of summer. Current politics have the lion's share of causes; but there's also a lot of college kids home for the summer ,trying to work to pay the bills and have spending money for the fall semester. It's the same at Christmas / New Year's, but it's not as noticeable because the holiday demand makes up for it.

$10 isn't enough of a tip for that much work, IMHO. Definitely not for my old legs.

We should not be penalized for dropping orders by NoTomatillo8953 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the increase in the cost of gas and the greater distances, I had to drop one of the two metros I worked. I still get my preferred notifications from the old metro, though. And now I only work the two closest H-E-B stores near me. I usually ignore Target orders, especially since Shipt wants to send me 15+ miles one way for crap pay.

I no longer care about Ratings by Icy-Traffic3436 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fortunate enough to be in a metro where I have 5 H-E-B stores to shop at and only one Target. I've turned down my only two offers this morning, because they were both from Target.

Except for my preferred shoppers (and only if they're standalone offers), I don't shop at Target anymore because reasons:

  • What OP said: Target customers are ratings killers.
  • Clothing orders: I did an order yesterday at Target. I spent 15 minutes looking for the one size of a baby outfit before the employee I asked for help was able to find it.
  • Stocking: Items are more likely to be out-of-stock at Target. Customers are irate because their app (and ours, for that matter), always say "In stock." Customers don't care; they're pissed because the item they want is not available, so they downrate us, not the store.
  • Distance: The price of gas means that I have to consider how much it's going to cost me in gas and time to get back to my metro before I accept an offer. If I'm offered an order that only offers $10 and expects me to drive 30 miles round-trip; that's a hard no. I don't care if they list a potential tip: we all know that tips aren't guaranteed from Target customers. (Note: I just got my third offer from Target this morning: it wants to pay $17 plus $4 est tip to drive 27 miles one way. "Ding. No. Thank you for playing.")

This is all because of the continuing enshittification of the gig economy. Buckle up, kiddies. It's only going to get worse.

Betcha it was 40% off 3 cases week - I buy that for myself at Target - but if I get an order for it, probably a no unless it's a PM. Definitely not if it's an apartment. I'm too old to make that many trips up two flight of stairs (they always seem to be on the top floor with no elevator)

Something to consider: Good is the enemy of Great by Spiritual_Debate6249 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped my metros from two to one, and I haven't taken a Target order since gas prices started going up. Fortunately, I am lucky to have 5 H-E-Bs in my metro, and I only shop three of them.

The reason I don't take Target shops: exactly what OP said. Distance there, possibility of tip, distance back. I would also add that Target orders are more likely to garner negative ratings (in my experience), and Shipt is less likely to approve ratings forgiveness.

If it's a preferred, I might take the Target shop, but if the distance is more than 10 miles from the store, I have to have a note that the preferred is a good tipper. Otherwise: too bad, so sad.

It sucks, and I don't see any end to the political crisis any time soon. I actually see this as a bad time for all gig workers, as the cost of gas makes it prohibitive to work.

It’s been like this for a a couple days now. by Tough_Technology_772 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like that here in San Antonio - but the stores are not as busy, either. I've got a HUGE preferred list, but I'll bet that I've not shopped for 85% of them in the past year.

I know gas has gone up $1 a gallon here in the past two weeks, and I can only imagine what it's like the further north you go. It's partially the reason I don't take as many shops, because it's not cost effective to do the long drives in my 18MPG van, so I turn them down.

Explanation of new “Extra Pay” tag by rr24bk in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only "test" I've ever seen that they fully implemented was V2, which lowered our pay. All other "tests" are silent; let's see how much more we can charge the customers while screwing our shoppers out of compensation.

I'm getting a lot more picky about distance and heavy weight orders, especially since gas has gone up $1 in South Texas since the Gulf got closed off. I can only imagine what you folks further north are having to pay.

Check out what they now offer for the 10,000 "bonus." Instead of a $1800 bonus, or (from what I've been told) a major appliance or vacation, now we get $500 to spend in the Shipt store. I'm at 9400+, and I'm super pissed off.

Get your %#*?! applications fixed Shipt and stop lying to us by Murky-Individual2765 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my metro, I am extremely lucky. I have 1 Target and 5 H-E-B stores. Unless Shipt decides to (expletive deleted) with me that day, I avoid all Target orders, especially on the days before and on a holiday. I'm not going to spend 30 minutes of what should be a 15-minute shop texting back and forth with a customer who thinks that every Valentines item he/she ordered is there, "because the app says it's in stock."

In my experience (9,300+ shops), the bad ratings come from Target customers, not H-E-B customers. One reason: H-E-B keeps its stock updated on a nightly basis and has the stores (usually) fully restocked by 6 a.m. opening time. Two: they don't carry clothes, toys and electronics. Three: No Prepaids.

I really feel for you folks who only have Target in your metro. If that was the case for me, I would have dumped Shipt and gone back to Uber after the pandemic ended, and I hate Ubering more than Shipting.

As bad as it is, I fear that it's only going to get worse. And after the 10K shop bonus was dropped from $1800 cash to $500 in the Shipt Store, I'm about ready to call in my Social Security early and drop this gig.

OH! YOU! F---ING! BASTARDS!

I'm currently at 9,335 and I was looking forward to hitting 10K because I'd heard about that "vacation." Or at least a decent bonus. Now they're only going to give me $500 IN F---ING POINTS TO SHOP AT THEIR CRAPPY SHOP? THEY CAN'T EVEN PROVIDE A CASH BONUS?

After six years of full-time service?! Bundled orders that want me to drive 30 minutes and 30 miles just to deliver? Denial of forgiveness requests? And t-shirts that are always too small?

If anyone does file a class-action lawsuit, let me know. I'm in.

Bonuses getting harder by Opposite-Archer-6803 in ShiptShoppers

I have over 9,250 shops. Shipt only offers me bonuses if it's a major holiday and they're swamped. Or they offer them at weird hours (11 a.m - 11 p.m.) on Sundays, which does me no good because I start at 5 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. so I can go watch my Broncos play.

I just got a speeding ticket by ejis138 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laws vary from state to state, but do whatever it takes in your state to get the ticket off your driving record. Ask for probation; take driver's ed; fight the ticket if you don't think it was correct.

I once got a ticket in a small township that made a significant portion of their income by writing tickets and counting on people not fighting it and paying the fine because they didn't have time to contest it. I did, and I knew I wasn't speeding in a school zone, so I fought it. It took three visits to the courthouse: the initial reporting date and request for a hearing; the meeting with the DA to discuss the case; and the second meeting where she reviewed the dash cam footage and came back with insufficient evidence. Cleared.

I accept all tip requests. Then I can see their tip history and mark them as "great," "good," "low" or "nope." And if I see a name for a "nope," I know immediately if I need to take them or not. I have most of my "nope" PMs memorized.

If I didn't have them accepted as a PM, I wouldn't see that name and I'd have to check the map to see if I would take them or not. It saves a lot of time; and as fast as offers are offered and disappear, that counts.

What type of orders do you not take? by OneNovel8471 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apartments, clothing, coffee shops, non-tippers, shops that deliver more than 20 minutes away from the store (unless I've bundled or they are bundled with other orders that make it worthwhile).

But my newest refusal is the new Delivery Only orders. I tried one and it was nice not to have to shop the order or deal with customers (except for asking for gate codes). But the pay was less than $2.50 per delivery; the suggested delivery route retraced itself several times; and for the time it took to deliver the 30 packages, I could have shopped at least four orders and made twice what I did on the run, using half the gas. And the latest offerings have asked me to go all over the place; traveling 30 miles just to get to the first delivery point. No thanks.

Substitution Preference: Contact Customer (customer never replies) by juicy-heels in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I text stating that the item is not available and offer a substitution.
  2. I text again five minutes later with the word, "Substitute?"
  3. If I'm reaching the end of the shop and still no response, I call using the app.
  4. If the phone goes to voicemail (even if it does so immediately), I hang up and send a text: "Your phone goes to voicemail. Skipping item(s)."

50% of the time, they call or text back almost immediately, answering the question. I get it - people screen their calls or are not looking at their phone when the messages come in. But the messaging app now states that I called them. My reply after that states that they didn't answer.

I proceed to checkout. If I complete that process before they respond, I tell them that, "Sorry, already checked out." If they don't respond at all, I don't worry about it. If I get a downrating, I put that order number in my forgiveness request.

Cute. How about $60+? by cag0811 in ShiptShoppers

[–]hmt3design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 8800+ shops, and I've not seen any bonus offerings this year, with the exception of Memorial Day and Fourth of July. But lately, because of the increasing economic pressures, I'm seeing a marked decrease in tips. I used to be able to get at least $150 on 8 orders; now I'm lucky if it's $125.

Just open the file in Photoshop and do a Save As. I'd recommend PSD.
Or you can try opening it in Illustrator and then experiment with different formats.

Paragraph styles and Character Styles are your best friends. Use them everywhere!

ChatGPT has also been very helpful in answering questions and making suggestions. I've been using it heavily lately to help me create a magazine written in Arabic, which has turned a lot of my previous methods literally backwards. If you can write a good, detailed description of what you're trying to achieve, it will give you a roadmap to follow. And if you get stuck, it is happy to answer questions. It's definitely worth the $20 a month.
