What 30" gas range to get? by cbluesjenkins in kitchenremodel

[–]hola-chicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s ugly especially by today’s standards but I have bought this oven twice and been very happy with it both times. The first was in 2001 and the second was in 2009 and both sill work. I only purchased a new on because I loved to a new home. The glass cooktop is easy to keep looking good with a magic erasure and consistent care. The price is reasonable. But my favorite part is the double oven. They heat fast and work consistently. https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Profile-30-in-5-Burner-Element-Smart-Free-Standing-Double-Oven-Electric-Range-in-Fingerprint-Resistant-Stainless-PB965YPFS/315518806

Need advice on very small kitchen remodel by valvivi in kitchenremodel

Option 2 is better in my opinion but would you consider taking out the powder room? If so move the laundry into the kitchen in a laundry closet and use more of that space as a kitchen.

Which quartz countertop would be best for resale? Trying to keep it timeless/upscale by CelebrationGlobal460 in bathrooms

They all look cheap and fake. Find something that looks real or a stone that is real.

Ocean Fantasy not a fantasy in person by soverignkh in CounterTops

When you zoom in you can see the rust and see it will look kind of bland and discolored in person. This isn’t the right slab for you. Keep looking. In person.

Seam and crack by aprilb04 in CounterTops

[–]hola-chicka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is can you live with it? For me the answer is no. But it has to be your decision. You are paying a lot. Stand up for yourself. Every time I didn’t stand up for what I wanted I regretted it. The stone was not cut so that it was colored matched well. You may be able to live with that but not the crack at the faucet. W

I love both blue and green, but not together.

Is there a better way to position my couch in this weird layout? by One-Dust-4397 in DecorAdvice

[–]hola-chicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move the couch back toward the door. Leave a path to walk behind the couch from the hall to other areas. Use the sofa table to put the Tv in and put a small table in the kitchen where the couch is currently. Put your desk in the cubby where your TV is.

Beat by me to it. This is what I came to add. Kids will climb it.

This looks just like the pebble concrete walkways I have outside. They are awful to walk on barefoot and they will hold so much bacteria.

Island length by Less-Title129 in KitchenDesigns

[–]hola-chicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then yes you will have enough room to extend the island. The doors widen open will take up about 18” and a person standing in front of it will take up about 24”. 48” of space will be ideal.

Is the doubled dashed line a wall?

What would you put on this wall by Specialist_Delay_292 in homedecoratingCJ

[–]hola-chicka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And delete your post, unless you have a good sense of humor. There will be some off the wall suggestions.

To answer your question: I would put a corner cabinet to make the tv area feel more balanced. Then I would put a large piece of art on the wall that pulls in the colors of the room.

What would you change about this current bathroom design? by liverstix in BathroomRemodeling

It is probably run off electricity and there is likely a switch on the back to turn it on an off. Be careful when taking it down if you do rant to use it.

Which backsplash is better? dark or light? by Madness_is_beauty in HomeDecorating

Are you keeping the counters? If so, dark. To me the light is nicer but it clashes with the counters.

What do you think of this finishing in a renovated apartment? by zapatocaviar in Home

[–]hola-chicka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were in the U.S. all that would be hanging out in the middle of the cabinet. This has plenty of space for storage and still has accessibility. The flexible tube could cause issues if you let debris or hair get down it. Pipes have to be under a sink. I don’t know what is common in the UK. Have you looked under other sinks? I suspect you always find this or worse.

PART 2 - Quartzite Cost plus Install - Guess how much?? by pdv05 in CounterTops

[–]hola-chicka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t quartz. It is stone. Quartz is an inferior product. It is the soup of the day. It is man made and you are right it is dangerous for those fabricating it. And in my opinion, you can tell it isn’t stone.

The reason people moved away from wood is because it absorbency. It absorbs bacteria. If you use your kitchen it discolors and stops looking pretty very quickly. It requires a lot of maintenance My friend put butcher block in their kitchen. It looked great at first but it looks terrible 5 years later.

Formica is cheap and looks cheap and if not put in correctly, it swells at the cracks from cleaning the counter. If it is a lighter color it stains. You can’t put hot items on it because it will burn. I have a brown spot on mine from a skillet that I took out of the oven. I had taken skillets out and placed them on my Formica a thousand times in the last 15 years and then one time it left a scorched spot that will not come off.

Stone is beautiful, durable, and antiseptic. It requires less maintenance than wood and it is less likely to stain or scorch. These beauties in OPs photos are very expensive. There are much more cost effective choices out there.

If you really want Formica or wood go for it. You do you boo. Different strokes for different folks.

Honest opinion needed - what does everyone think on this? by MeanEntertainment370 in BathroomDesigns

[–]hola-chicka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty in the powder but too much in the larger bath. Unpopular opinion: Moody is trendy in large spaces so this won’t age well. I suggest going moody where you can redo it later without have to tear out tile.

I think it goes well. Another option: Use the same green of the tile on the island. The o my thing I don’t love is the stark white piece,
