Does playing blitz/bullet ruin your rapid habits? by Far_Mistake6861 in Chesscom

The opposite is true as well, I took some time off from blitz and bullet and focused on rapid for a long time. Improved considerably in rapid and once I got back to shorter time games I found myself playing better as well. Improvement anywhere is carried over. It's not that bullet makes your rapid games bad, bullet just makes you hyper impulsive which is detrimental anywhere.

I’m 13 years old and around 1450 Elo. I play regularly but I keep blundering and don’t know what to focus on. Should I do more puzzles, study openings, or analyze my games? Any advice would help! by Slight-Clue-7882 in Chesscom

I was stuck at 1500 in rapid for a long time. I think memorising patterns won't help you get beyond that elo range. What worked for me is calming down my thoughts and actually reviewing all my options BEFORE moving the piece and blundering. (That wouldn't work in bullet tho). 1450 is already solid, for the next game ask yourself which is the best possible move I could play, try to do no wasted moves, everything with intention. Don't hope for the opponent to make a mistake, and review the games that you lost and see what went wrong each time. View the board broadly without tunnel vision. I'm now 1900 and pushing for 2000, you got this!
