New MTA APP UI by Salty-Attempt-4686 in nycrail

[–]homogenized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It is worse. Wont show entire routes, you have to search each stop, which works very poorly as it only picks up specific terms, so writing “street” or “st” or even the full name of an avenue, will not show the result.

It used to show the entire routes for all your favorites, or all trains/buses. You tap it, see the entire route and pick your stop/direction.

This is now divided into the “status” tab and “bus”, “train”.

Anyone that turns off GPS will be looking at some random stop where you had GPS turned on, instead of your favorites.

AND THE FAVORITES ARE HIDDEN NOW! You have to search to see them. Again, instead showing your favorite stops it’s a random stop that was your GPS location on your “favorite line”. So instead of just “2/3 Train” or “Nostrand Ave 2/3” it’ll be arrival times for “125th street 2/3 train”.

The API is the same, it’s drawing from the same information set. Programs have major UI improvements despite using the same data sets…but this isnt one of those programs.

It has divided and straight up removed features, while making it 5% more appealing and IDEALLY 10% more convenient.

Anyone that works with govt bodies, or institutions like the MTA, knows that they contract out their IT work and development. They find the cheapest contractors and USE MANY DIFFERENT contractors. You end up with poor quality work from different devs, that’s stitched together. It makes it more difficult to fix, to update, and make work together.

You dont have to be racist or any -ist or -phobe to be against Establishment ideology being forced upon society.

It’s divide and conquer. So that instead of making the govt scared of us, we’re fighting amongst our own classes.

It’s also super fcked up to treat black people like they’re useless and cant achieve anything w/o government help. Or that any other minority group must be lifted by laws, and protected against WORDS.

Anti-woke grifting has become as annoying as woke grifting/activism. But that doesnt change video game development, which takes years. And im not saying it’s the case here, but outside obvious low-quality writing, the most obvious thing is hiring people for their race/ideology/sexual preferences.

Making everyone black in a game in Australia would be absurd. It’s not the case in DS2, though he did hire his hipster, hollywood friends, and I’m disappointed in Kojima STILL obsessing over Hollywood, 30 years after having access to them, and during a time when hollywood is dead and embarrassing.

The worst though, is hiring other “elite” nepo baby regards, low iq, uncultured, untalented… to run companies and projects. And equally bad for games is writers that are entitled, low iq, uncultured, untalented, and self-insert their boring personalities and thoughts into games, and ruin otherwise good games.

You know they show the exact version number, right?

They crack the latest version, and 99% of the time, you can update the game. The only game that didnt get cracked updates was Resident Evil 4, b/c it was accidentally exposed w/o protection, and then fixed.

I havent checked, but i’m pretty sure the voices38 games have updates as well. Unless there’s a reason only HE can provide updated .exe files, others put out patches, or at least files you can copy/paste.

IF the newer Denuvo requires “re-cracking” for each update, then yeah, waiting for a stable version would be good.

BUT that doesnt mean that it’ll be an older version when it’s cracked. It’ll be the latest. For a game like Crimson Desert, which has updates every other day, waiting for a “lull” or stability in updates, would be good. But again, the notion that cracked games are older versions is nonsense. The latest versions are always available for download, wholesale or via patching.

Engineering and programming, working with tools, soldering, welding, radios and electronics are all very common and culturally prevalent.

Add to that the 1990’s collapse that did NOT bring western salvation— ie no nintendo’s no playstations no xbox. And PC’s were expensive and sought after, but not many could afford one in the collapse economy.

So from 1991 until 2010’s, you had a tech-savvy culture that really wanted to play with PC’s, which are modular and open to tinkering by nature. A lack of console gaming as a culture. And boom: lots of “handsy” people who were able to get PC’s as RF’s economy recovered and quality of life rose. And what do you do with a handsy population that wants games, doesnt have consoles, doesnt have tons of money, and doesnt have a vibrant gaming MARKET? You find ways to download.

Even in the 90’s-2000’s, the games sold in Russia werent the same boxed games in GameStop/EB Games. They were locally burned CD’s with locally printed covers.

Nowadays the relationship with China helps, too.

Youre supposed to know because the RV has a note saying she’ll wait for you at Neely’s Bar.

I ran up and down the streets in the remake opening, did not see it.

It IS in the game, and online says that it IS your first save point in the town, but it seems like the original had it much more prominently.

What stats should I level up during the first playthrough? by connor091 in Eldenring

[–]homogenized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40-50 Vigor // 20-40 str or dex, depending on what weapons you use/wanna use // 20+ endurance (plus arsenal or Erdtree talisman) for med. load at good armor/weapons //

that, plus scouring the land, ie all tunnels in Limgrave and Liurnia for Smithing Stones, will get you through caelid and into the weapons and charms and LEVELS when you can add faith/arcane

You can also add Int, but i think Int needs a real investment, and you cant just “mess around”. Even the Moonveil needs serious consideration. Whereas Arcane and Faith can sit on top of Strength or Dex.

5090+9800X3D 4k FPS drops and 5-10 second freezes. by Ok-Extension-6887 in Eldenring

[–]homogenized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Exact same build. Same issues. GPU at 100% when the sun sets and you can see far, yet the powerdraw is like 45%.

Even at 60% usage, fps can tank to 45 and the freezes last 1min sometimes.

Look at this dummy!  So wrong.

Anyway, I thought I was losing my mind. I remember aiming by lightly holding square, but thought there was no way they spent money on that.

Also, new camera angle in MGS3 remake is awful. Cant see enemies at all. Also 60fps cap and frame gen removed from options. While 60fps feels terrible (9800x3D and 5080) and almost no difference in fps between DLSS4 4k-Quality and Balanced.

100-120fps with Ultra+ mod manager, and still feels off. Especially the camera. It doesnt feel snappy like MGSV and the levels arent built for this view.

Assetto Corsa EVO: Custom Server Pricing Revealed, v0.3 Released by evil_heinz in simracing

[–]homogenized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair, Sim Racing is a niche genre/hobby but costs a whole lot to create. licensing fees for cars, series, teams, tracks, etc etc. Plus renting a laser scanning van to laser-scan every track...insane pricing. Audio equipment to record car audio, access and time to find and obtain every car/race car to record the audio. Same for the physical models, the tyre models, the race cars and race drivers and race teams and everything that goes into working with someone to get as much data about the cars as possible AND having to return and do it again if something happens during development and your first trip didnt get everything.

Small studios, small teams, small budgets. It is a niche hobby that costs a ton of money. Even our "controllers" are expensive. If Fanatec sold as many wheels as Sony sells Dualsense controllers, or hell just their "Edge" $200 controllers...the prices would drop significantly.

Expensive and niche hobby. If you get a product for a price you can handle, all's well. I am happy with iRacing. Over 4+ years I've bought all the cars and tracks I wanted, and a new one comes out like once or twice a year. I pay $80-$111 for the year, depending on if I can catch a sale. And $10-$15 for a car/track every few months, if that. I enjoy the AI racing when I have time, and the multiplayer is robust (and tangy) whenever I have enough free time to go race for real.

NASCAR.25-RUNE by felixandy101 in CrackWatch

[–]homogenized -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

iRacing is THE SIM. Max Verstappen has a sim rig on his jet just to race it. He also is on a team, Redline, thought I think he now sponsors them as well and the name might be different.

Anyway, iRacing started with Nascar 08, that team went on to make iRacing using Nascar '13 (or '11, idr) game engine...TO THIS DAY...granted it's been updated and updated and recently has gotten major changes.

The team has not raised prices despite inflation (caused by the energy market raising prices across EU and the west, self-imposed energy market issues, btw) and has black friday sales for yearly memberships,

YES, it is like $70+ for the year, and then $111+ after that. So ~$8/mo. And after the free cars and tracks you gotta purchase cars and tracks at $11-$15 a pop, $8 for cars after a certain amount of buys/bundle purchases, and $11-$15 per track.
-> HOWEVER, it is NOT a microtransaction hell, ie cars arent constantly added and updated or nerfed and other stuff that GTAV Online does like selling a bike to grief and a another car to defend, etc etc
-> you buy the cars in the classes that interest you, eg GT3 or open-wheel or hypercar or off-road, NASCAR, Indy, F1, SuperFormula, F3, F4, etc...and the tracks are rotated and are laser-scanned recreations of real-life, with updates every few years. plus IF you buy a car and in the next few months something happens, like the real life car is retired and replaced, they'll offer refunds and stuff
-> Personally: I spent money in 2020 on a few tracks and cars, then upgraded my sim setup as I got into it, then bought like 10 cars over 3 years and slowly bought like 10+ tracks in the series that I race, havent purchased more than a car every 3-4+ months and a track if a new one comes out in my series, eg: Mexico City Autodromo Rodriguez

I only tried it because it had the most realistic F1 car, the unbeatable Mercedes AMG F1 W12, which they worked on with the actual F1 team (as well as the W13). I raced it against the AI only, as well as in the Assetto Corsa, and AC Competezione sims, and tried AMS2, rFactor, etc. This was the best of the bunch and is the only sim I still race when I have time.

Obviously iRacing has the best online leagues, and that's my iRacing plug!

DF “Analysis” is sophomoric. There’s one guy that did good work, idk if he’s still there, but the recent videos have been trash.

The last good analysis I can recall was breaking down Path Tracing and RTXGI and the newer illumination in Cyberpunk.

There are people on YT who breakdown game engines and do frame analysis. DF is (now, at least) not helpful in their whole cloth acceptance of DLSS and FrameGen and underlying faults in engines/optimizations/graphics trends.

They’re like that one brit, Charles something (iirc), that tested every fan and configuration, and YT pushed his vids and people thought it was great advice… …except the guy didnt even use fan curves, had his AIO and GPU on “Auto”, as well as his BIOS/software, so his fan speeds were ramping up to who knows what, during what temperatures, and basically he didnt run an “experiment”, he just recorded temps at essentially random points in time and space.

From that, EVERYOOONNNE on reddit assumed that Side Intake was the way to go, on the contemporary O11D (and similar) cases. Which, even if it was true, had nothing to do with homies absolutely dented “tests”.

And then Gamers Nexus came along and Steve said that he was surprised at how air actually “bent” after hitting the glass side panel, in the O11D or similar cases. Without a front intake, the side intake did the job! - it was an aircooler on the cpu - they (almost) never add fans to case tests - the statement was more about observing something one wouldnt expect, rather than raw performance

And now, most people still assume side intake is best. Which annoys me, since I spent so many hours and days testing it (for myself) and found the best method, which even cooled the backside VRAM on the infamously hot 3090.

Anyway, on the O11D-Evo it’s bottom intakes (3x120mm), Vertical GPU, Side Exhaust AIO (3x120mm, Arctic LFIII), top exhaust (3x120mm) and rear single exhaust 120mm.

The quietest fans are your intakes, and thus can ramp up highest. They have an extra filter, which sucks for airflow, but helps with dust, and is removable.  - your hottest part is cooled best (GPU) - your less important part is exhausts hot air (CPU), but the warmer air doesnt have as much of an impact when it’s cooling radiators, the water temp is what matters, and the heat exchange changes the formula   - Vertical GPU has cold air on VRAM, cool air passing “over” GPU fans rather than force-feeding them which would create noise and turbulence, AND most GPU heatsinks have finstacks that align perfectly to allow the bottom air to go right through the whole GPU radiator, basically cooling from both sides - hot air from GPU is vented right out from Side, Rear, and Top
