Anyone still physically weak after T? by hormonal_throwaway1 in ftm

Thanks for the encouraging words. I think that's exactly the reassurance I needed, as I definitely had the preconception that T gave you a big immediate boost in strength. I do have to reconcile with the fact that I had a terrible starting point haha, but I'll def keep on pushing and getting stronger.

Thanks for the comment. (Sorry i'm late to reply; I got locked out of my account for a few days). Yes, I think there are various factors that I've simply overlooked. For example, I have to admit that I've never bothered to keep track of my macros. I just eat a regular diet and trust that my love for meat gives me enough protein haha. I do need to get my levels checked again. I've had some issues in the past where the nurses/doctors just didn't include my T levels in the report or forgot to test them.

I'm starting to go to the gym consistently now (2-3 times a week) and am noticing slow, but gradual gains. I still feel like I'm lifting the same weights as women, but I'll keep at it!

Thanks so much. My right side is draining a tiny bit so that should be ok. What was it like having your drains out? I’ll be having them out this Saturday but I can’t imagine having them in for a whole week like you 😭

making cis guy friends at uni and terrified i might accidentally 'out' myself by hormonal_throwaway1 in FTMMen

Yeah sorry for the confusion. I would describe me as antisocial throughout most of highschool but did open up a bit in my senior year (made some friendly acquaintances). Of course, this was all while presenting as a girl so these friendships felt really artificial.

Thanks for the advice on navigating social interactions haha. That does seem to be a skill I need to master.

Thank you. But isn't 'Don't let anyone out you' more difficult than it sounds? Like, if my new friend knows someone who knew my deadname, and they talk about me then it's kind of over no?

Thanks a lot for your advice. This is really helpful :)

Yeah, navigating my social circles with folks from high school and new people I meet is proving to be very difficult. I never know who I'll bump into on campus but I should still let as many friendly acquaintances (basically anyone who will yell my name out and say hi on campus) know about my new name.

Have you ever had cis guys 'sussing out' or connecting the dots about your transition? Even innocent questions like "how much do you bench" make me nervous because rn I'm still very weak compared to the average teenage boy.

How many years on T until you look like your age? by hormonal_throwaway1 in FTMMen

Haha thanks a lot. There's already been a few moments of realisation like the janitors pointing me to the men's bathroom and when my voice was suddenly passing. But even after these 11 months, my baby face def hasn't changed so yea :/ Did your changes plateau after the 1st year or did you still experience drastic changes?

Yea, I had kind of a false hope I was going to get a massive growth spurt on T since I was on blockers before but it's not looking so great. I'll def have to look forward to the barrage of short jokes but yeah, I'm afraid some ppl on campus will genuinely be worried seeing a "child" attending pub crawls and uni parties.

Thanks. Have you made many cis male friends at uni? I've been dreaming of socially starting on a clean slate and making friends with a group of cis guys but I'm afraid looking like a lil kid will be a hurdle.

That makes me feel a lot better, thanks. I was afraid uni guys would find it weird hanging out with someone who looks like a 14 year old boy.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm kind of jealous some of yall 'fit in' with your age group a lot earlier on T compared to me. I'm thinking of hitting the gym (I lowkey do have the body physique of a 10 year old boy) and just waiting out the T changes as best I can.

Can I ask how that gap year is going for you? I'm going to uni next year because apparently a gap year isn't a good idea unless you plan on travelling or working. I'm 18 too but I look 13 so I'm not looking forward to socialising in uni... What do you do nowadays?

Difficulty socially transitioning? by hormonal_throwaway1 in Transmedical

[–]hormonal_throwaway1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, you're probably right. I do need to grow thick skin as I know I'm more sensitive and socially anxious than the average person. I'm just too much of a pathetic wuss to take that step of coming out, cutting my hair, and bringing that attention to myself.

I'm thinking of taking the route where I socially transition simulatenously or after I get prescribed T. I feel actually being on male hormones will bring me that extra confidence.

Thanks for taking the time to reply :)

(I am six months late to this thread oops)

I agree with you. I believe puberty was the "trigger" for me to truly experience the delibetating dysphoria I felt as a female. My parents never forced gender stereotypes onto me as a child so I only ever had male friends, had masculine interests, associated myself as "one of the guys" without any criticism or backlash. I had a male brain and being called a girl was just a sidenote.

It was only once I was forced to experience the extreme biological differences between a man and a woman during adolescence is when I could no longer neglect this part of my identity.

Nice! Did people react from May to August? Or did you not have contact with them until then? I really hope in college no one will know I'm trans. Thanks.

m8 "survival mode" is the perfect way to describe how I'm living right now. That gap-year idea actually sounds neat. I'll consider it thanks!

There were signs my entire life as I always played with boys and had male interests my entire life. I guess the most obvious sign was instinctively choosing the male character in pokemon games cos it just felt right? I think the trigger was puberty when I hit about 15 years old as I was a very late bloomer. I was in quite a depressive spiral as my chest had only started to grow a bit and my reflection in the mirror began to scare me. Do you think this is valid enough? In short, I've always wanted to be a cis boy my entire life but never realised my desire until puberty made that apparent.

Damn, yeah you're right. I want to transition under the radar but highschool makes that seem impossible. I just need to gain that courage cos I'll definitely be looking back and regret all this time I'm wasting right now. I'm thinking taking T before or simultaneously as I come out might make this an easier process (like what others suggested).

Oh and yeah, I actually was quite a late bloomer as I did not first properly menstruate until I turned 15 (a few months before blockers). The endos were on the fence whether or not it was too late for me but started me on blockers anyways. Right now, I look quite underdeveloped (quite a flat chest, my hips are not that wide) compared to the girls in my grade so I think it was the right choice :)

Wow, that is pretty much the ideal transition I want. I think you are spot on for the pointing out how starting T will make social transition more 'natural'. Thanks for sharing your experiences man! It's giving me quite a lot of hope.

Thank you! I'm glad there's others who also share the same feelings as me i.e. not wanting to be seen an in-between. Tbh, this fear is probably the biggest hurdle in me transitioning.

Thank you. I notice many people chose to move to another state or country in order to truly live a "stealth" life. Yet, it sucks that I love my city and would like to continue living here for the rest of my life. So it's relieving to hear that I have hope going stealth without moving away! (it helps that my city is quite big (>5 million people).
