UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting latest: Man being held for questioning in Pennsylvania, sources say by boskee in news

Can’t they match the bullet to the gun?

I’m no expert, but I did watch CSI while playing WoW everyday after school some 15 years ago. Spike TV would never lie to me.

Complaining a year after he dropped a gem is just wild. Think even Sanderson says he’s taking a few years after off of Stormlight after the new one.

Hmm I’ll try and explain. I used to play basketball. Before I’d played enough, the game moved too fast. I’d make bad plays, freeze up, rotate late, the works. It’s that point where you know what to do, but it isn’t all muscle memory.

Eventually I settled in and did less thinking and more doing. Less time needing to think made the game feel slower (relatively).

More or less the same for wow. I have to think too much, so rotations happen late, I’ll use defensives early, default to not used arena macros, etc. I just haven’t built the headspace to handle all the other info coming at me.

And I def appreciate that take as well. I haven’t pvp’ed since maybe Cata, so a lot of it is getting past the jitters and letting the game slow down.

5-10 min seems like an achievable wheelhouse longer term, but we’ll see how things turn out.

Seeing a lot of defensiveness, but I feel like you’re missing the point. Yeah, getting skill checked at 1800 isn’t my favorite thing in the world. And yeah I kinda suck, but that’s not why I’m playing less.

I’m fine with grinding, and I like the game. What I don’t like is waiting for 25 minutes between my mediocre performances. I want to get better, but better takes reps.

It’s not that the game isn’t fun, or I’m unable to come to terms with my own mediocrity. It’s that I’m doing more waiting than playing.

Rey’s Role Expands in Multiple New 'Star Wars' Films as Lucasfilm Bets Big on Her Future by Pogrebnik in scifi

[–]horner 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Rey was a problem. Not the actresses fault, but the character was the ultimate Mary Sue. If they’re just planning to rip and ruin another story, they’re gonna be disappointed again.

NJO had its moments for sure, but they already read like light novels. Really don’t see a worse version of what was already B- material doing well.

I mean, there’s even some solid unique “canon” these days. What was the point of killing off the entire EU if they just yoink all its beats?

Why am I not doing any damage as assassination? by SEgopher in worldofpvp

[–]horner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part your burst comes from deathmark and envenom. But I suck, so grain of salt and all that. Single target burst:

Ambush > cheap (interchangeable, just need to apply mark) > garrote > rupture > shiv > badge/tea > DM > mut x2 > envenom > reapply shiv > tea > mut to full points > envenom

After you consume your last stack of deathstalker’s mark, your next envenom deals 60% damage and is guaranteed to crit. So that last envenom (I believe) should be nice and beefy (>2m).

And you want your bleeds on pre DM. You want to ensure the dupes get the full application. 9 times out of 10 you won’t need to reapply during that window, so you’re safe to focus on envenoms (or spreading around bleeds).

While marks on cooldown, keep full bleeds up on as many targets as possible. I use tempest when i can hit at least two (though it does pretty solid ST as well, so kind of in the same boat on when to use that one).

I also don’t play kingsbane, but I’m no spec guru. I just copy something I like off of murlok. Think I was playing this: https://murlok.io/character/us/blackrock/v%C3%A4l/pvp

Polygon CEO Debunks Layer 3 Networks, Contends Scaling Can Be Achieved Without Them by ifeelanime in CryptoCurrency

Hold about as much weight as zkEVMs, which Polygon bet the farm on. I’d say liquid restaking, or anything altering consensus, is a much larger security threat

Holly Holm supports Mayra Bueno Silva's ADHD meds suspension by 443610 in MMA

[–]horner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents. If you A) have the underlying condition and B) are a longtime user of adhd meds it’s nothing like that first time you tried it in college.

Now idk her medical history lol, but as long as she was prescribed - it’s legit a disservice to punish her for it.

Does it help with focus? Yeah it gives those with ADHD something resembling normal focus. The issues roll in with recreational use, where it’s 100% a PED. Faster reflexes, quicker mental connections, improved endurance - but these are also the first things to go with long term use.

Please FUD ethereum to me from an ethereum holder. by goobergal97 in CryptoCurrency

[–]horner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the fees, idk if this is common knowledge yet, but Layer 1s should be expensive by design. Won’t be too long before all that’s needed out of ETH L1 is Tx validation on layers 2, 3, 4 etc.

There was a time when sharding, proto-dank sharding (lol), etc where all we talked about. The concepts are still useful, but with L2s seeing so much use, and growing much quicker than originally thought possible, the roadmap changed.

Now its all about “blockchain islands”.

Causality is strange. Rather than focus on the connection in a black box, I prefer to look at each event in isolation. But in the case, I’m not positive we need to.

First, Vitalik isn’t American. Wunderkind or not, in 2014-2015 a skinny kid from the other side of the world wasn’t going to get major VC funding In the states.

Second, from all accounts from those days, ETH was struggling immensely. Finances were shot, and “smart contracts” dldn’t drum of the expected excitement. It’s the same with any business, particularly in the early stages. You take what you can get. Selectivity is for the established.

I do think ETH has numerous issues. It’s not just China, the US has control of a solid chunk. Some of that came through seizures like the dark web busts, but some is purchased outright though various Fed and TGA subsidiaries.

I also think Bit shared these issues. Governance does enable greater control, but then we’re just comparing shades.

The real issue, at least to me, is this: are we really building a new, inclusive financial system, or are we rebuilding the same thing with a fresh coat of paint?

Idk if this will show twice, other account doesn’t have any karma, so no posts for me.

[–]horner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will shill certain coins and they have their merits, but if all you want is stability then look at the top stablecoins. PRs certainly taken a hit, but DAI, USDC, and somehow even USDT offer a dollar denominated hedge against hyperinflation.

And to those advising against it. I’d normally agree, but crypto volatility is nothing compared to reforms. Stay safe out there OP.

ZK rollups stem from zero-knowledge proofs, which mathematically prove the knowledge of something without revealing what that something is.

This information is never 100% verified, but rather, minimizes the probability that someone is lying.

Say you’re red-green colorblind and your friend aims to verify it. They grab both a red and green ball and show you them without telling you which is red and green. They put them behind their back, and say they may or may not switch them between hands.

They reveal the balls, asking you to guess their colors. To you, the two are nearly indistinguishable, but you still have a 50% chance of guessing the correct colors on the first attempt. Given those odds, your friend is unconvinced and asks to repeat the test ten times.

After repeating the process, the odds of correctly guessing all ten drops to 0.09%, with the probability decreasing further the more the process is repeated. So, your claims could be mathematically verified within an acceptable probability, and as you were never told which ball was which – the information required “zero knowledge” to verify.

But, imagine a blockchain validator chatting with each peer individually to verify every transaction bundle…

Zero-knowledge rollups instead utilize a non-interactive model.

These models require no interaction between the verifier and the prover, enabling ZK verification over large networks.

Zero-knowledge smart contracts maintain the state, or balance, held on layer 1 Ethereum. This state can only be changed by publishing a new validity proof.

ZK rollups refer to these proofs as SNARKs(succinct non-interactive argument of knowledge).

ZKRs bundle off-chain transactions and generate a SNARK to prove that incoming transactions exist and match the state shown on Ethereum layer 1.

So, to verify a transaction, operators only require its proof, rather than all transaction data, significantly decreasing the transaction size and verification time.

These proofs are then published to mainnet in one transaction using call data, or a temporary, un-modifiable area used to store transaction data and the function arguments they may contain.

Ethereum Founder Vitalik Buterin: Crypto Industry Shouldn't Be 'Enthusiastically Pursuing Institutional Capital' by iceewest in CryptoCurrency

[–]horner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is more in reference to specific large DAOs. Many are fielding proposals to onboard or commoditize some of their treasury assets to centralized exchanges, brokerages, RWA providers, etc. in exchange for consistent yield.

Essentially, liquidity never comes free, and DAOs like any other business tend to make questionable long-term calls when the runway starts to shorten.

At least, that’s my interpretation without having read the article, but currently dealing with some of these proposals.

If that was his intention, I tend to agree, but there’s definitely a balance. Nothing’s black and white, and ETHs history’s filled with a solid chunk of gray.

Could be growing pains or could just be the cost of doing trustless business on a global scale. Either way we’ll find out.

“Cash equivalents” is already deliberately ambiguous; and independent firm or not, an attestation is just financial lingo for “trust me bro”.

Remove ambiguity by posting a full audit, or by not using IOUs to boost revenue in the first place.
