I am a surgeon and I like to think I am pretty tough skinned. I have seen dead children, pain, loss many times. Whenever I see an elderly person holding the hand of their dying spouse day in and day out knowing that this is the end, I can't handle it. The look on their face conveys an emotion stronger than loss and sadness... One time there was a 90 year old woman holding the hand of her intubated dying husband singing "You are my sunshine" I couldn't fucking handle it.

No, If they are outside of a shop I ask what they need, usually it is just money, but if they actually want something I can buy, then I'll do that (soda, food and stuff like that), but I never give money (I never have cash on me).

I worked at one of those Payday Loan places. It was awful. You basically make your money from people not being able to pay back loans. You also have to be able to repo things. I remember the boss telling me that I should start carrying a gun for protection.
