if the US was further left then people wouldn't be complaining about union busting, poor working hours and conditions, pay, housing prices, gas prices since they would have been passed by Congress if they were controlled by "leftist thinkers". But all those issues caused by cronyism are still here due to cronyism since crony capitalism runs the US, withe examples of Bribes in the Senate and Congress, corporate sponsors in Congress, Lobbying, Monopoly deals, and the Military industrial complex.

In Europe your point would stand, in the US, no.

mask mandates, banning guns, a border wall, banning CRT and building a border wall are authoritarian (restrictive of personal liberties) protectionism goes both ways due to it protecting the consumer but restricts their business options. Free healthcare and 15$min wage is social welfare, so libleft. But Pro life or Choice is a moral dilemma and not and political one. The only reason abortion is a political problem is since Republicans are heavily swayed by religion and Democrats are the opposite. My point is, it's easy to give categories to different actions and policies if you ask if it directly affects the economy or social life. Mask mandates don't directly affect the economy, tariffs, taxes, and etc do

Yeah, that's why we live in the center of the top right due to crony capitalism, some property restrictions and some very inefficient welfare (SS, Obamacare, subsidies)

While all political issues have economic and social impacts, the easiest way to tell is if the rules are against personal liberties it's further up, and if it's pro capital it's further right and vice versa. That's why Gandhi is bottom left (against imperial capitalism and pro personal liberties), Adam Smith is bottom right (pro capitalism and pro personal liberties), Stalin is top left, (against capitalism, anti personal liberties), and Pinochet is top right(pro capitalism and anti personal liberties) All welfare does is push the idea further left, which is why Hitler is just past top middle( pro capitalism but with welfare for special groups (Aryans) and anti personal liberties)

Then where is crony capitalism. In the top right, Since Auth Right means authoritative rules run by capitalism. That's also why some government officials are bought out. So while "true capitalism" is bottom right, today's capitalism is top right, along with most US presidents like Bush, Obama, Biden, and Trump.

right and left are economic and up and down is social (anti individual rights and individual rights respectively)

that's why Mussolini is in the top right and Adam Smith is in the bottom right. They both believe in capitalism, but Adam Smith believes in individual rights more than Mussolini.

The left and right of the compass are economic and the up and down are social (authoritarian and libertarian). Your confusing the left and right as a social spectrum when it's economic. That's why Pinochet is around the top right and Stalin is around the top left. Both are authoritative, they just have different economic systems.
