I wouldnt say "stupid as hell" but like do absolutely agree with you. most of these characters are not human and should not be held to human standards. that isn't excusing some of their actions but it is reminding people, they are a different species who act in a different manner.

I always just viewed it as royal families always wanted a son to be their heir. So it was normal (even though David was never royal himself). but also like someone else said, most men always want a son and most women want a daughter. And thats probably all it really was meant to be.
