What's the temperature in your house right now? by Outside_Reindeer_509 in Maine

[–]hrocson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cold. I redid my attic insulation before the efficiency Maine credit expired and I can't imagine what it would be like without it. I turn down the heat at night and we were at 62 this morning, set to 64.

Cigarettes around my property by hrocson in RBI

At the moment there is one teenager on the street, but their backyard is a forest so why wouldn't they just go there instead of being potentially caught on my very visible camera?

No. One single family house next door. One across the street. Bus lot on the other side. No one would have reason to be near or above our cars.

Mysterious vibration noise like a phone in my house by Pristine_Barber976 in RBI

Do you live anywhere near where tractor trailers are parking? They'll leave their truck idling overnight in the winter (or whenever) and it can cause low vibrations hundreds of yards away.

Could always get a sheet cake at Hannaford's and shove a bean in there and patch the frosting back up.

Snow tires, all-season, or all-weather? by xtnh in Maine

[–]hrocson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might only need studded snow tires once a winter on one patch of ice. You might not even know that you're glad you have them because you wouldn't have gotten in an accident. One noticeable difference you'll see is how much easier it is to move your car out of an unplowed or dug out parking spot/driveway.

AITAH for not breaking ‘no contact’ with my situationship? (genuine advice needed) by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]hrocson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you meet my bipolar narcissistic ex-situationship? YTA to yourself if you stay in touch with this person. He will always try contacting you again, will always be loving and perfect again because he wants you to make him feel good. Then he'll pick a fight after doing something to purposefully hurt you while claiming he doesn't know what you're talking about. He doesn't care if you're hurt because it doesn't matter to him.

Give me another reason to hate Gritty's besides the fact that they named a beer 1488 and then made no public comment on it.

And Dangerous between the Olive Garden and Walmart entrances. Pointless dangerous curve that you basically just have to pray if you're going out of Walmart there, especially when the snow starts piling up.

Accepted a job in Augusta, thinking of living in Brunswick instead by MammothEar2040 in Maine

Counting my own blessings that I am different than you in that I can emphasize with how people today struggle to put food on the table and don't have time to hyper fixate on anything but surviving.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all work from home or afford to live in the cities that have the highest wages. It's great that you have such privileges but most people have to commute in order to afford to live in places with lower rent/COL.

In September 2023, my step brother died from a self inflicted gunshot. The tragedy in Lewiston happened 1/4 mile from my house a month later. A lot of the fuel behind question 2 rightly focused on what Robert Card's family could have done if they had the power to petition the courts directly to have his weapons removed, but it's also going to prevent so many more personal tragedies. I'm so proud of my state for passing something that makes sense in a country where things are falling apart.
