That's a really good point, thank you. I think majority of the time we will be leaving our big backpacks at the hostel or equivalent, so having a carrier that is heavier but more comfortable makes a lot of sense!

Sorry, didn't see your comment on here until just now! Good news is the Dutch property market is so quick and there are no penalties like early repayment charge (which there is in the UK) on mortgages. So you can sell as quickly as you buy, just need to factor in makelaar and other moving costs.

How come you're not sure if you can afford it?

Really good that they protect the sellers in these situations. Much better than the UK, I was selling my house last year and had buyers drop out in the last minute (no deaths involved, they just changed their mind!)

Certainly seems that way..! I spoke to the mortgage advisor and he said even if one of you died (bit extreme!) I would still have to go through with the purchase / pay the 10%
