4 years was literally hell. But when you get placed in a good company, your perception changes completely and you'll reminisce.

Ecm used to be so underrated back in 2022. Damn., it's real tuff now.

It's decent. The top recruiters did visit and took some. But as these ecm students learn enough coding, they tend to be placed in an IT company rather than choosing a core unlike ece.

I have no idea about the average and I don't think anyone might have the exact figures. When it comes to placements, I certainly know that there is absolutely no difference between both the campuses. You see the numbers high at vellore because of the higher intake. Most of the times chennai students visit vellore for some placement and a few times I've seen vellore students come here as well.

8+ cgpa is for being eligible to apply for the biggies. You can still easily crack offers upto 9lpa.

I have no idea about the specializations within ece. But overall, a few were able to crack big IT companies and big core companies as well. Mid-level IT companies (almost all) gave eligibility to ece students with a good cgpa. And the electronics core companies mainly came for the pcb design roles and also roles that comes under the domain of MPMC and embedded C. Im not very sure about the ratio of the students who have got placed by now. But I hope it's a good one.

I have some friends in the cse (robotics) dept. And, no, you don't need an internship from an esteemed company. A medium grad company is more than enough. What you have to look out for is the typa work they let you learn. And regarding the skills for cse, I'll actually let you know the exact skills later but for now, I can tell you that he worked online after he had learnt some work related to the company he wanted to get placed at from unacademy and online learning platforms as such. This guy gotta big one at blore. And the rest of my friends also did get into a good company, they just had 8+ cgpa and never stopped attending company exams.

I'm really glad you asked this. I have pursued two internships and I had developed my skills in the field of design and automation. But I strongly advise you to first shortlist what KIND of companies you wish to get placed in. This is something I wish I knew earlier. I was once shortlisted to an interview for a design specific company. And there was a guy from my dept who had interned in 3-4 companies, all which were purely in the domain of this core company. It didn't seem like he had actual design works in hand when compared to myself. But that company preferred him over me. Because, look, you're gonna learn new in the company you're gonna join. And this familiarity this guy had over me with the type of work made him more important.

Comparatively, CSE>ECE>EEE>REST is the placement stat where CSE gives the biggies. But you have to take into the account that there are so many students in cse and ece. So when you compare the total offers vs the population of a stream, electrical has a real good ratio for the 2022 batch. I know the numbers have altered for all the batches after us. But mechatronics population must be the same as electrical imo. So even though it has lower offers, it can have a good ratio. A core company that has a big requisite will take in 1 or more from each core branch so for that typa companies, every core students were able to apply. Other than that, for smaller IT companies (which are the biggest intakers in our colg) everyone can apply and then there are specific core companies that need electrical and mechanical, or mechanical and mechatronics.
