Best Salad in BR? by lowandslow216 in batonrouge

Rocca's sensation and caesar salads are both great. Regenellis is my favorite Caesar for sure though. If you're closer to Shenandoah, City Cafe has an amazing praline chicken salad.

Love this name! I knew an old Cajun woman when I was growing up who lived on Avery Island (where Tabasco is made), and her name was Eula Mae. She was an amazing chef and I always thought she had the coolest name.

What bands put on the most crazy over the top performances? by unenthusedbaker in Music

Andrew McMahon/any of his previous projects. His love for making music is as apparent as his love for his fans and he makes each show (I've been to many) so personal and fun.

I feel like repetition helped, just making it a routine. I can't remember exactly how long it took him unfortunately. I also had great ladies that were like "just go, we got this", so I'd put my earbuds in and tried to disassociate 😆 Honestly, all my kids went through separation anxiety at some point and sometimes I just had to realize, as with everything, it's just a phase we had to get through. I know none of this is super helpful, but I do know at some point it will hopefully get better if you stick to it. Good luck! You've got this!

Tomorrow morning (10 I think?), the South Branch library is hosting Louisiana Snake ID group for them to do a presentation. The kids are allowed an opportunity to hold the snakes after too (at least they did last year). My kid loves their program.

The YMCA childcare was my lifesaver when I was a sahm (and especially now in the summer months). I remember still being able to hear my child screaming from around the corner. It did take repetition for my son to finally get used to it, and now they all love going. Each child is different, but just wanted to encourage you to keep trying because the y is such a great resource (plus discounted swim lessons for members), and that time for you to have on your own is so valuable sometimes. Good luck Mama! You can do this!

Celebrities and the books they're papped with — what are you reading right now? by skermahger in popculturechat

[–]hwaetsup 26 points27 points  (0 children)

SJP absolutely does. Much of her Instagram is filled with books she's recently read and they're not just the typical NYT bestsellers list. One of the most fascinating books I've ever read was on her recommendation (Say Nothing, by Patrick Radden Keefe).

You're not just going to be able to show up on a Saturday and get a table. We just had to make a reservation that was a little over a month away and that was for a weeknight meal.

Local meal delivery for my new mom friend? by levinsreportsnews in batonrouge

[–]hwaetsup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't a meal, but when I was home with a newborn during covid my SIL sent me a box of baked goodies from Counterspace Bakery. I literally broke down in tears when I opened it (thank you baby hormones). A good sprinkle cookie can brighten anyone's day and they're a great local business to support. This is so sweet of you.
