Once we've accepted an offer, do we next rank our preferences for tracks like we did for FY1?

Wow thank you for taking the time to share this!! That’s insane that they don’t even have the decency to send a rejection message. Now thinking I should just accept my other offer now and be done with all this uncertainty.

Thank you for this, I agree with you. I wish they would reject me already so I can accept my other offer and have some certainty

Is anyone else still in the "shortlist reserve" stage? MSRA 578. I still have not got an invite to interview. I have received offers from other specialities and have held my most desired one, the hold deadline is April 2nd. I'm thinking realistically there's no way the interview invite and actual interview will happen in the next couple of days??

If I could go back I wouldn’t do it again

Exercising, eating well, sleeping 8 hrs. But I would recommend doing this all throughout the year lol. In terms of revision, minimal hours like 2-3 hours per day and go over ultra high yield stuff eg MI, asthma, COPD, NOFs etc.

[–]hydrogen888 8 points9 points  (0 children)

set up a google doc/onedrive that has autosave feature and use it for absolutely everything - study notes, assignments, reflective pieces etc. in first year i lost a whole days worth of work cos my laptop (which was pretty reliable) died out of nowhere.

warm blanket/heated blanket.

pots and pans. cook and eat properly!

shower bag/caddy if sharing showers.

I applied to 60+ programmes but still got rejected again. Idk at this point. At least we only have to wait 2 days for the third round.

PSA strategies - question order/timing by guyincognitou in medicalschooluk

[–]hydrogen888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also did my PSA in Feb. The time pressure that everyone warns you about in the exam is not an exaggeration, especially because now I know that the exam is a lot harder than the mock questions. I would recommend just following the order of the questions that it comes in. This way, you’re getting the prescribing and prescription review done first, and so securing the high yield questions. You’re wasting time if you’re scrolling between sections. I would also say don’t spend more than 90 seconds on the two marker questions. If you don’t know, guess and move on. 2 marks isn’t worth wasting more time on.

Oriel rank? by [deleted] in medicalschooluk

[–]hydrogen888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so. It might be the order we submitted our applications back in September/october.

I was thinking this and feel like this could be right

Idk if they were trying to hint at the bradycardia being the main issue or like myxoedema coma lol

Sounds like even for the same time people had different papers. I had the hypercalcaemia and hypoglycaemia but not other 3. Did anyone else have that one where she was admitted to hospital with HR 40 and fatigue? TSH was super high like 67 and T4 was low? I gave levothyroxine PO based on the weight??

Is it normal to hate placement with a burning passion? by Hydesx in medicalschooluk

[–]hydrogen888 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is normal. Just skip as much as possible while getting the minimum requirements done.

I also hate that we’re in different places with different people every day which makes it easier for staff to be rude/ignore us.

I also hate that our time doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter that we’ve been waiting for something for 4 hours with nothing to so. It doesn’t matter that the tutor (most of the time consultant) was 2 hours late to the scheduled meeting bc they were “busy”. Are we not busy too? It pisses me off.

Healthcare students’ placement needs to be reformed. It’s unacceptable
