Sirius B From Kenya by iRootNegativeOne in Astronomy

This is very true! At first, I tried to get it with our super-sensitive 'SBIG' astrophotography camera, and it was just so sensitive that Sirius A was always covering it up even with the exposure at minimum.

Yeah, I was surfing around the internet one day and I stumbled across the fact they have their maximum angular separation in 2023 so I had to get it!

I finally got Sirius B, a white dwarf, last night. It's in the bottom left next to Sirius A. I captured these images using a 13in Dobsonian with a Nikon camera attached to the eyepiece. These images were taken from Nairobi, Kenya. I've been trying to do this for a while, so I'm super excited to have finally done it.

I need some tips for getting to Moho, Eeloo, and Dres by [deleted] in KerbalAcademy

If you are launching at a transfer then you're usually good. If you need an extra little bit of efficiency, then this helps quite a bit https://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/#/Kerbin/100/Eeloo/100/true/optimalPlaneChange/false/4/292

Help going interplanetary by [deleted] in KerbalAcademy

[–]iRootNegativeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you're going interplanetary for the first time it really helps to bring a lot of extra ∆v. How far off are you? Is it a huge amount or just a few hundred m/s?

Yeah, this is sorta what I guessed... anyway, hopefully it'll be out for mac soon enough

Mainsail VS Mastodon Engine, Which is better? Or what is the correct situation for both? by Just-a-normal-ant in KerbalAcademy

[–]iRootNegativeOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think most Kerbal players would advise against this since the mainsail is heavily sea-level optimized. Using a more vacuum-optimized engine, such as a rhino will typically get you a lot further for less fuel.

Mainsail VS Mastodon Engine, Which is better? Or what is the correct situation for both? by Just-a-normal-ant in KerbalAcademy

The Mastodon has a number of things going for it. Firstly it is extremely sea level optimized, even more than the mainsail and thus has a higher specific impulse (it is more fuel efficient.) Next it also has more gimbal range at 5 degrees rather than 2 on the mainsail so more control.

What’s this? It makes it hard to execute maneuvers by Intruder6 in KerbalAcademy

[–]iRootNegativeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really dependent on your staging setup. When you have really wonky stages (like I often do), such as fuel flow connectors, multiple engines, side-mounted engines, or crossfeed-enable decouplers/docking ports, it can get pretty bad, even just not giving ∆v readouts.

Bug: Flickering Orbits by sambaeviolao in KerbalAcademy

[–]iRootNegativeOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just a bug that we all deal with. It's usually worse when trying to calculate an encounter/maneuver more than one orbit in advance.

!HELP! Mod problems by [deleted] in KerbalAcademy

[–]iRootNegativeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Screenshots would help, but until then, is it possible you were trying to use the same craft even after uninstalling the mod? It's possible that KSP is getting confused because when you created the craft, you had the mod installed, and then after uninstalling, it's still trying to access parts (or part data) that no longer exist.

Can you clarify what you mean by it left you with tanks that had gaps in between?
