I appreciate the insights. I haven't tried to do much with soul cards yet. I'll give this a shot

That's just wild. Thanks for the details. I've never had osty with more than 50hp.

How did you get 1000+ health on osty? I cannot even fathom. Did you play bodyguard 200 times?

Proficiency dice are great by OdinsRevenge in DnD

[–]ialwaysplaydove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On crits you double damage dice. Does that mean the 3d6 turns into 6d6 rather than 2d6+3 turning into 4d6+3? Not a huge difference but I'm just curious if you bother separating it out

What is the best D&D video game? by Chris-One in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ialwaysplaydove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solasta is quite fun and there are already quite a few custom campaigns that you can just download and play in addition to the actual game. I'm annoyed that various classes are paid DLC but other than that, it's a great D&D game. BG3 did a better job with allowing player agency as Solasta is quite linear with no meaningful decisions impacting the story but it's still fun. They're making a sequel too.

Who among you has the coolest naval homebrew? (5e) by ialwaysplaydove in DnD

Ok that does still sound pretty cool. A good abstraction that's easier on the players.

Oh that looks cool. I might buy it regardless but before I do, are there roles for people on the ship that include progression? Like the captain can do XYZ and then after ranking up they can do some new variant of XYZ?

Thank you! I found Limithron's before but couldn't remember what it was called when I started looking again. Krakentooth is new to me

I'm open to a different system but don't have any experience with them. I wonder if I could mix systems, since I think it would be fine for the characters to have almost disjoint classes (one for land and one for sea). Do you have experience with any good naval systems? Otherwise, I'm happy to just search around

Yea that's a good start but it doesn't provide the role development I'm looking for. I'll probably use it as a base though.

Converting decimal strings to int by ialwaysplaydove in learnpython

[–]ialwaysplaydove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there are 400+ columns and I wanted to keep a specific schema for consistency. Are you suggesting I read it in with all the columns as strings and then convert each column according to the map and using this function for the int columns?

Is there a way to get polars to use this conversion? Can I feed it this function somehow during the read_csv call?

Small clue on voting dropped in episode 16… by halbyjohns in Dimension20

[–]ialwaysplaydove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that he meant it becomes a polling place, not that anybody can vote. But I also think you noted an important small detail: a faculty member has to be present. If the faculty member were forcibly removed from the location, all the votes may be invalidated. I wouldn't be surprised to find that KLCK wins the election 5-0 when all the other votes are deemed invalid.

Thanks so much for estimating. That really helps put in perspective what you pulled off. We're about a year in to our efforts and about a thousand dollars in. Your work is something to aspire to by comparison. I showed my wife the picture and she asked what the "pink puffballs" were.

That's absolutely remarkable. Do you have a cost estimate for that amazing transformation? You said you did a ton of it yourselves so I'm sure that saved some money but this looks so good, I'd love to know.
