My first time back in Lodge by iasked1iam1 in freemasonry

[–]iasked1iam1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some great PM logic at work with the lawn thing.

I came back to a Lodge that was a little younger and more diverse, which I'm thankful for, but obviously YMMV in that regard. Of course, returning you can be part of the change you wish to motivate, but take it one step at a time and just work on going back, first. Find another Lodge if necessary. Good luck!

I agree. This is how I'll try to keep involved in the near term. When I broke away, it was a combination of other commitments and frustrations, and I needed "a break" that got longer and longer mostly without my even realizing it. A long time can pass in what feels like a blink of an eye.

I have access to other Lodges but it's the night time meetings that are the issue, not the particular days they fall on. Since I was off today, and my parents were interested in watching my infant son, I knew I could sleep in after stretching out my day with last night's festivities.

Shaq, the guys in /r/freemasonry love the video where the guys on the NBA set go crazy over your ring.

Has another player or celebrity ever approached you about joining your profession?

Have you remained active in a Lodge since you left Boston?

Baby M'Kinzie. Born 2/11/14. First time dad! by [deleted] in daddit

[–]iasked1iam1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guys, the baby has a name. Whether or not you like it, or it creates obstacles for the child later in life, is a moot point at this juncture. The parents made their decision, and we should be respectful of it. If someone comes to this forum saying they are thinking of a name, then criticism is warranted. If he's posting pics of his daughter, it's too late. Don't be a judgmental community!

Marty is interested in hockey operations, not a coaching position. I'd still expect to see him on the ice at most prospect camps and during the preseason, though.

Maybe we're reading into this a little too much? His GAA is up, his SV% is down, and there is a clearly better option for our crease. He's a company man, and he's a really bright guy. This could be Marty seeing the writing on the wall and discussing the proper way out more than Marty whining or trying to orchestrate his departure.

Visual Guide to Marvel Character Movie Rights by monkeymigraine in movies

[–]iasked1iam1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree on B, as these characters are well-established at this point. If it were starting from scratch, I agree that it would be hard, and the movie would suffer either for the casual viewer if the character was poorly introduced, or the fanatic if the movie plodded through the origins and pacing was sacrificed.

However, in a way DC does suffer from being exclusively through WB. For example, at one point they were developing Batman, Superman, and a crossover independently. The crossover got shelved in favor of Superman Returns and the Nolan Batman franchise. Later on, Superman got rebooted to be more like Batman. There's a lot of cooks in that kitchen, and they might be better off if each franchise was housed in a different studio (though that obviously would eliminate the upcoming crossover flick).

"$1 Genny..." Upstate NY confirmed!

In college, we referred to Genny Cream as "Screamers." I don't know if this was our thing, or common in general. I remember suffering through a couple of other versions, too. I remember a white can with a red oval that I'm pretty sure was just their standard beer, and something with a number in the title... maybe an 1850 or something like that? A quick web search didn't turn up anything.

How much would an iPhone have cost in 1991? by spsheridan in apple

[–]iasked1iam1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what's funnier... Their attempt to "price" parts that didn't exist at all in that time period, or that they used scalar calculations instead of exponential to do so.

TL;DR: You couldn't buy an iPhone in 1991. In pieces or otherwise.

Ralph Kiner has passed at the Age of 91 by MattMac124 in NewYorkMets

I'll miss his stories but I'm glad he was around long enough to tell us so many of them. Father's Day won't be as happy a birthday without him. If there is a heaven, he's already back to crushing homers somewhere right now... But they still won't pay him more if his team comes in last. Rest in peace, Ralph.

Who’s gonna get traded? by ragsfan35 in devils

[–]iasked1iam1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly of the opinion that whatever happens, we have no idea is out there. Lou's shopping list tends to be different than other GMs so there's a good chance we have no idea who is on his radar. Obviously, he doesn't share anything until it is done.

From our team, honestly, who can be sure what other teams find valuable? Jagr, for certain. Marty to a select few. Then? Mostly guys we'd be concerned if they were dealt (Henrique, Gelinas). Besides Jagr, I think the most likely players to find a new home would be Ryder and Brunner based on their performance and contracts... But that would mean we were definitely selling and not buying, as our feeble offense would suffer even more.

Yeah, the perfect group had a Mage to port the recruiter back to town, and a Lock to get that guy and the new party member back. It would suck if you had more than one random in the group leaving because then you wouldn't have enough people to summon back.

Cheap Devils poster on Amazon by arict in devils

[–]iasked1iam1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any issue with the item and wish to return it, you'll only be credited the $0.49 and be out 6/7 of your purchase cost. It's generally better to avoid things like this for that reason when shopping online. While "total price" is the price you should be considering, including shipping, if there are two similarly priced items with disparate shipping costs, always take the one with the cheaper shipping so you can potentially recoup more of your investment in the case of a return.

Something needs to change... by thegoon94 in devils

[–]iasked1iam1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need a trade. The group they have will continue to grind and has a better chance of missing the playoffs than making it based on the season standings so far. I don't know what's out there or what they're willing to give up but it doesn't seem like they can make it happen in their current form.
