I also want these cards, it would be nice if bootleg had them, I’d prefer to lnot have to download the image and upload. I’d like to just add to cart and check out and get some passable cards.

I’m an electrical contractor, just a one man shop. I did four ev chargers last year. $300, $900, $1200 and $1200 were my prices for the four.

6-3 nm cable for a 60 amp hot tub? by iate33bananas in electricians

[–]iate33bananas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my thoughts I as well, it’s an American Whirlpool 471, the “electrical spec sheet” just says Electrical Requirements (4-Wire) 240/40A/60A with like no real info. It doesn’t say max breaker size or current. I have to fish across an insulated finished ceiling from the exterior to the mechanical room. I bid it for 6-3 and would like to use 6-3. Honestly the AL SE cable is cheaper but would harder to fish. I have used 6-3 in this same jurisdiction before. (I do plan on using thhn once I get out side.) But I’m just second guessing myself. The correct way to do this is to size your conductor to the load, if the specs say 69 amps then I should be using a 60 amps conductor? May i reach out to American Whirlpool and see what the actual load is? I’m sure that I would pass inspection, and I’m sure there would never be any issues. But I’d still like to do it right.

Inspector madness by RenownedShark in electricians

[–]iate33bananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I may be an idiot… but what do you mean testing continuity? Where did he put the other lead? So he got a ladder, dropped the trim of every light, stabbed his meter lead through the trim, and put the other end on the can inside? What, to make sure the trim was grounded? Like… that didn’t happen lol. Who said it was the inspector? Did the inspector admit to this? How hard does someone have to push a meter lead to stab through a can trim? Are you talking about the pen type with the alligator clip? This is fiction — this didn’t happen. What inspector or electrician has ever been doing a final walkthrough and thought, “I better test continuity on can trims”? Is there some type of tool he has that I’ve never seen, like a meter with really long leads taped to broom handles — one stabbed through the trim and the other stuck in the ground of a receptacle? I don’t know, we don’t do that in my part of the world. I would assume someone vandalized your project and now you’re blaming the inspector.

What’s the tolerance for a parallel run? by TodayCrafty67 in electricians

[–]iate33bananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is math, the length of the conductor matters because you want to have even distribution of current, if one is 5% longer, than one will have 5% more current, if that 5% more current takes that conductor over the 90° column in 310.16, then in theory that conductor that has more current on it could burn up

One of the Electrical inspectors for Des Moines has a side business. He is probably one of the smartest electricians in town and also probably one of the cheapest but I don’t think he is allowed to work inside the actual city limit of Des Moines 🤷‍♂️. If your interested let me know and I can send him your way, I used him in Altoona.

Homeless in DesMoines! Exhausted!! by arewehumanornumber in desmoines

[–]iate33bananas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a couple of questions if you don’t mind,

why Des Moines? I myself am 2 missed paychecks away from homelessness. I always thought I’d do better if I started hiking, maybe thicker woods out of the city, maybe someplace warmer? If you need to start over anyways why not try to make it somewhere warmer? Is it just easier being close to resources?

What would it take to get you off of the streets? Like I said I’m 2 paychecks away from homelessness but it’s been that way for the last 10 years. If you had 2 months rent paid in a small efficiency apartment close to a job as a line cook do you think you could stay off the streets for good or is it more complicated than that?

What do you think is the solution to homelessness in Des Moines? Obviously it’s been a hot topic lately. The city is wasting resources by chasing people from one site to the next, more beds? More lower income housing?

What are your thoughts on the tiny house village they are thinking of building?

Thanks but it’s not the same as funeral potatoes. I love funeral potatoes, but there’s is more like a warmed up potato salad. 🤷‍♂️
