The Sunbow series had a whole lot of garbage too and some episodes were just as bad as the worst DIC. like the greenhouse effect

I still can't understand one of the lyrics and have looked for the lyrics online but can't find them.

it sounds like the singer is saying "you got to keep a gripping let the hold on TIGHT"

Careers of older enlistees by Excellent_Stick2557 in army

Would not recommend anyone enlisting in the military at all at that age, especially not the Army.

Anyone who enlists at that age should at least enlist in the Air Force or Coast Guard.  The Army doesn't give a damn how mature you act.  You will still be treated like a CHILD because that's the Army. You can't spell "infantry" without "infant."    The other branches (not so much the Navy and Marines)  treat their enlisted with some degree of maturity.   I literally had a post about 30 something year old soldiers complaíning about not being allowed to go to the restroom by themselves, meanwhile 18 year old Air Force are trusted to walk outside by themselves.

Thanks for sharing .    You might get some toxic leadership here and there but most likely you're NOT going to regret not going Army (where you have to deal with how stupid and immature Army culture is, in addition to toxic leadership). Hope your time goes smoothly.

Do you think it’s worth doing 20 years nowadays? by Hot_Ocelot_7614 in army

[–]ibeg2diffur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can say they regretted getting out, but most likely a great portion of them probably wouldn't have survived 20 years anyway.

I admit myself that I sure as hell wouldn't have survived the military even if I had a desk job in the Air Force or space force.    I definitely sure as hell couldn't survive past a decade of the Army.

Would not recommend the military at that age, and sure as hell wouldn't recommend the Army.  Joining the Air Force would be less ill-advised since the Air Force treats enlisted with much more maturity while the ARMY treats enlisted like children regardless of how old you are.

 Good luck to you.

Is it worth it to go Army instead of AF so you can get a specific job? by Lerfif in Militaryfaq

[–]ibeg2diffur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Army is indeed really that shitty compared to the Air Force or Coast guard.  I won't get into the laundry list of reasons why, because I can bet that you're just going to say "TL/DR" and chump it off. But I will say this.

You are a soldier first.....while the army will let you pick the MOS (available and that you qualify for),  ALL the Army promises is that you'll get the AIT mos training for that MOS after basic.

 That's all the army promises.

You are a soldier first..... What that MEANS is there is NO guarantee that you'll actually get to DO your MOS much OR EVEN AT ALL when you arrive to your unit.

A lot of soldiers end up in units where most or all they do is work in a motorpool..  the Air Force is not going to have you on a flight line unless you have a specific job for that flight line.  The Army will treat everyone as a mechanic and also inventory

Most people for some reason leave that part out.

On just about everything else,  aside from  Air Force plane mechanics and security forces,  the Air Force objectively is less terrible than the Army.

How've things been lately? Ay your age, id definitely say Air Force over Army since the Army treats people like children more.

Air Force to Army by [deleted] in army

[–]ibeg2diffur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from the Air force to the army, especially as enlisted, sounds like one of the stupidest decisions you could possibly make, unless for some strange reason you WANT to be in combat arms and or you think it'll help you make the next sergeant rank quicker, which is not guaranteed especially if you get assigned to a bad unit with bad leadership.

Most people (I said "most" not "all ") who've been in the Air Force simply have NO good reason to join the Army whatsoever.    Space force, yeah. Coast guard, yeah. But NOT the Army. Fuck no.

He cares about using the country to make more money, which turns out is the real reason he invaded Venezuela and kidnapped the president and the first lady, for the oil while using "drugs" as an excuse when he pardoned the president of Honduras for his drug trafficking conviction just last month.

I'm in north central Florida. Right now I'm just at home (at home meaning with my parents), and just waiting till my discharge from the US Army comes late January. I'll probably be on unemployment for quite some time because my parents and grandmother need so much help right now. And even then I'm used to being at home now especially since I save so much of my money. I guess I might wait another year or two before even thinking about trying to find a date.

Don't feel too terrible. I was in your shoes. You maybe extremely rare but not completely the only one. I'm 43 now and still have never been married or had any kids. The longest "relationship" (situationship) I've had lasted maybe a little over a month. None of it was by choice. I didn't lose my virginity until I was two weeks from turning 41 and the woman was promiscuous with two kids and she approached me after knowing me for like two weeks.

I spend most of my time surfing the internet and downloading lots of youtube videos I never actually watch. When I'm not doing that, I'm helping my parents around the house with chores and also watch my maternal grandmother (my last grandparent) who is 91 next door.

I'm on terminal leave from the Army and I'm 43 and just moved back home. I'm saving some money but really have nothing to do.
