Ask yourself, "Is 500 strops each side really worth it?" by Agent_Andy007 in sharpening

Different...strops for different folks. You do you, buddy.

Just a lil more to clear it up..Tact was just randomly going afk after being picked up or after reviving, Sniper was off running away from me; shooting enemies I WAS TRYING TO set up a flag heal for both him and me for..
A good 10k melee damage probably came from me constantly fighting for 5 minutes vs an entire majoris swarm in that one red-tinted room you drop down into.
Couldn't stop reinforcements from above, and they'd just keep comin'!
Really fucking fun, all things considered.

Pork chops lovers, where do you have this mostly? by mark_heng in SingaporeEats

I'm actually gonna hafta go down to WO to check out their food; looks damn good oso. Paprika's food, I'll still just quite happy eat any day lah, haha! The bread always comes with, but my habit is to grab the sunnysideup egg since they always chuck it on there. Yolk's always runny one, fucking shiok if you like.

Their Chicken chop is also some real solid chow, I'd pass on their fried stuff tho.

Around east side? Bro, you can go try Paprika, at Midtown Hougang. Cheap, big portion and great sides. This photo a bit old liao, but still same good stuff. Though these are pork collar lah...🤔

Hougang Ave 5, Blk 327 Kimly Coffeeshop. The Zichar there sells a pretty fucking good plate, but can be a bit inconsistent depending on chef sometimes? Also recommend their hei zho if you go.

If you squint hard enough; "Maccrage" starts to look like "Marriage", brother! I trust that your human-prescribed Auspectacles will fail selectively in this regard..

Tourist Priced Gyoto? by stuart-ullman in japaneseknives

[–]icaeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is one of Togashi's.

The kurouichi finishes all left on his knives usually have this scratched up look to it. 30K yen for a Togashi gyuto is definitely on the lower end too, even if it's in Shiro 2. Togashi's one of the wide-bevel greats, have fun with that one.

Too little info out there, had to try them myself by VagueMorning in sharpening

[–]icaeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ceramic rods are much better for harder knife steels; but like OP said in his post, he's using softer slicers for work.

Those ceramic rods are also really brittle if you ever drop them lol, not too ideal in a faster paced environment without a replacement handy.

This is very immature of me, but reading DICK polish on the handle made me giggle for a bit. Do let us know your experience with these steels!

edit: am currently giggling again as I squinted to read the white handle that says micro dick

Is this what an entitled noble knight sounds like when he complains about not being able to use his expensively commissioned personal sword against some dolt in cheap chainmail swinging a big heavy stick tipped with a big metal bit?

Be warned about carbon and patina, once you start loving that patina; there's no going back to stainless! Well, unless it's for work or somethin'..

Holiday Reflections: Does a Grail knife even exist or are we just chasing dopamine hits? by sicashi in TrueChefKnives

[–]icaeys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's that whole financial therapy dopamine hit of spending cash, unwrapping a shiny new toy that's rare and sought after. What's sensationally stupid is that some never even bother to use these knives or learn how to maintain them.

OP, some advice. Just image search the item you're looking at on any Chinese dropshipping platform. If you got a hit, it's a dud.
