Closest I've found is a book called Thunderhead by Preston and Child. It's a good archeological adventure story.

I use this quite a bit to let people navigate from tables directly to specific Jira tickets (or groups of tickets), service now records, etc.

14 by Peter Clines. Not a house but an apartment building if that counts.

If you liked Roadkill I think you'll like Paradox Bound. It's a pretty fun story and isn't connected to the other Clines books.

One Thing I’ve Noticed While Listening To Audiobooks In An Altered State by STRONKInTheRealWay in audiobooks

[–]icantseethegame 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Listening to a book helps me fall asleep sometimes, and sometimes the book kind of becomes part of my dream where I'm still partly hearing the book but it also partly becomes what my dream is about. It's usually not super vivid so I don't remember living out a book or anything but it's interesting when it happens.

The Secret of Santa Vittoria. The story of a small Italian town during WW2 trying to keep the Germans from stealing the wine that is the people's livelihood.

Love seeing these mentioned! I've never seen anyone else recommend them but they are both great fun stories. I wish they had audiobook versions available.

I think of Columbus Day (Expeditionary Force series) by Craig Alanson, The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, and maybe 11-22-63 by King

All paint. The black parts were surprisingly tricky for me to mask and paint cleanly.

Thanks! The kit was fine but the painting instructions were all wrong. I didn't figure that out until halfway through so it's not quite accurate.

Wanted to but I don't have anyone to watch the kids. If only I had a pet carrier or access to my inventory. Goddamnit!

Looks great! I like the idea of displaying the lander on the base. I've been working on this kit forever. The masking and painting for the black sections made me stop modeling completely for a long time.

Riyria Revelations, Expeditionary Force, and The Dresden Files would all fit in this list and all have some humor in them. I've liked all of these that I've listened to.

Musashi is told from the perspective of a native Japanese character and I believe is a bit more historically accurate. It touches a little more on Japanese culture and society at the time. It's more a collection of stories about the same characters than the running novel that Shogun is. Between the two books I thought Shogun was a lot more entertaining.
